In order to actively respond to the call of the Buddhist community in the whole province to give lectures and explain the scriptures with the theme of “Asking questions from the river”, to make an interpretation of Buddhist teachings and rules in line with the requirements of the development and progress of contemporary China and the excellent Chinese traditional culture, and to take the initiative to promote the China of Buddhism, on the morning of October 25th, the Buddhist lecture exchange meeting of “Asking questions from the river and asking questions from Wozhou Forum” in Xinchang County was held in the Big Buddha Temple.
At the exchange meeting, Master Mingkong, the deputy supervisor of the Great Buddha Temple, systematically combed the formation process of Buddhist Prajnaparamita in China with the title of Zen Thought in the Heart Sutra. He pointed out at the outset that since Buddhism was introduced into China, China has become the main thread and vein that runs through the development of Buddhism in China. Starting from the social background of the emergence and popularity of Prajnaparamita in Wei and Jin Dynasties, he discussed in detail the relationship between Prajnaparamita and metaphysics, and explained the basic ideas of Prajnaparamita in six schools and seven schools through the listing of some representative figures. During the exchange, Master Mingkong specifically pointed out that among the “Six Families and Seven Cases”, “Six Families and Six Cases” were all formed in Shicheng Mountain and Wozhou Mountain in Xinchang County, which fully demonstrated the historical value and practical significance of Xinchang as an important birthplace of China Buddhism.
Master Quan Song, vice president of the County Buddhist Association and supervisor of Pingding Temple, expounded the idea of serving the country and all the people with the theme of “Love for Religion, Resonant with Socialism with Chinese characteristics Thought in the New Era”. In his narration, he specifically quoted the phrase “If you don’t obey the country’s Lord, it will be difficult to establish a law” put forward by Master Daoan in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and emphasized that patriotism and love for religion have become the basic principle of combining Buddhism in China with China society. He believes that the new era of “China Buddhism” and Socialism with Chinese characteristics’s new era resonate at the same frequency, so as to inherit and develop in a rational way at the contemporary opportunity, and then better continue the patriotic tradition of loving religion for more than 2,000 years.
“Zhijiang Wenwen Wozhou Forum” is a brand activity of religious China organized by the county Buddhist Association under the guidance of Xinchang County Religious Affairs Bureau. Through a series of “propositional” lectures, the activity aims to guide the religious circles in the county to love their country and religion, pay attention to the connection with Chinese excellent traditional culture, promote religions to learn from each other and innovate constantly in “small differences” and “great harmony”, tell a good story about Xinchang religion, show the positive energy of Xinchang religion, deepen the pride, happiness and sense of belonging of Chinese excellent traditional culture, and further demonstrate the soft power of Chinese culture.
