“The solar terms are the cultural code of the agricultural era, and although the agricultural era has passed, the solar terms are not outdated. The solar terms can keep track of time and bring people a happy mood. Zhao Zongbiao said that solar terms can make people live ordinary days more poetic, more beautiful, and more nostalgic.
Zhao Zongbiao, a newspaperman, writer, woodcut artist, and a member of the Zhejiang Writers Association. In his view, Jiangnan is not only a geographical term, but also an image, is the elegance of Tang poetry, the gentleness of Song poetry, the scattering of Yuan song, the beauty of mountains and rivers, the prosperity of scenery, and the thickness of humanity, “My woodcuts, around Jiangnan and my hometown, sky, earth, rivers, flowers and fruits, homeland, homeland, are the main objects of expression in my woodcuts.” ”

With a carving knife and a piece of wood, Zhao Zongbiao presents the beautiful Jiangnan and poetic hometown in the form of woodcuts. In the past ten years, Zhao Zongbiao has created more than 500 woodcuts in the Jiangnan series. Beyond words, he finds another way of expression in the texture of trees: “When the carving knife swims on a wooden plate, the flowers bloom enchantingly, the fish dive under the water, the birds fly in the sky, and a crescent moon rises on the side of the mountain, like a spirit waiting for the earth.” In a mountain and a water, a cloud and a rain, a flower and a fruit, there is the poetry of the south of the Yangtze River and the beauty of the old garden. Zhao Zongbiao said.
Zhao Zongbiao’s woodcut works have been published in many newspapers and periodicals such as “People’s Daily”, “Xinmin Evening News”, “Wen Wei Po”, etc., and have been developed into a variety of cultural and creative products, which have appeared in cultural exhibitions such as Shenzhen Cultural Fair, Hangzhou Cultural Fair, Shanghai Book Fair, and Beijing Book Fair for many times, and have also been selected by Zhejiang Huayun Culture Group and Zhejiang Gongshang University Press for two consecutive years, and published as “2020 Solar Term Calendar” and “2021 Solar Term Calendar”.
