On November 9, on the opening night of the 2022 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit, the theme of “Internet &Canal: Cultural Inheritance and Development of the Grand Canal in the Context of the Internet” opened in Wuzhen. Yang Jianwu, member of the Party Leadership Group of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and Director of the Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage, attended the café and delivered a speech, and more than 70 top experts and scholars in related fields from Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Yangzhou, Jiaxing and other places participated in the event.
The theme café is guided by Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Heritage Bureau, and co-sponsored by Zhejiang University of Foreign Chinese, Grand Canal International Research Center of China Grand Canal Think Tank Alliance, Jiaxing Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, Tongxiang Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Tongxiang Municipal People’s Government. With the purpose of scientific protection, generational inheritance and rational utilization of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park, combined with Zhejiang’s innovation and exploration of comprehensively promoting digital reform and digital empowerment and high-quality development, we will jointly discuss how to empower the construction of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park through new digital technologies, new models and new business formats in the context of the Internet.
At the café, Yang Jianwu said that China’s Grand Canal has been up and down for 2,500 years, stretching for 3,200 kilometers, and is the earliest, longest and largest canal in the world. This water system, which is excavated with artificial power, is not only a flow in time, but also a continuous in space; It not only communicates the north and south, but also connects the history and the future, forming a unique thousand-year-old canal context. Historically, the Grand Canal represents the highest level of China’s water conservancy and water transport technology, and also carries the spirit of the Chinese people and the memory of our national development, which is an issue that General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to. General Secretary Xi Jinping once said that the Grand Canal is a precious heritage left to us by our ancestors and a mobile culture, which must be protected, inherited and used well. The goal of Zhejiang’s cultural relics system is to keep in mind the entrustment of General Secretary Xi Jinping, under the correct leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, conscientiously do a good job in the protection, inheritance and utilization of the Grand Canal culture, comprehensively carry out the construction of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park, and strive to protect, inherit and make good use of the “three good students” goal.
He pointed out that at present, our province has achieved several “firsts” in the protection of the Grand Canal: it has taken the lead in establishing the World Cultural Heritage Monitoring Center of the Grand Canal, and has used digital means to protect and monitor; It took the lead in strengthening protection from the legal level, and was the first in Zhejiang Province to promulgate the “Regulations on the Protection of the World Cultural Heritage of the Grand Canal in Zhejiang Province” through the Provincial People’s Congress; Take the lead in passing legislation to clarify the publicity requirements and carry out the Grand Canal World Cultural Heritage Publicity Week. In the face of the new orientation and new mission of cultural relics work, what we need to do is to inject new methods, new technologies and new vitality into the protection of the Grand Canal with the help of the Internet in the process of implementing the new policy of cultural relics work, so that it can be presented to the world with a new look, which is also the meaning of this coffee show.
In this café, experts and scholars in related fields carried out in-depth discussions and exchanges on building the Grand Canal (Tongxiang Section) into a wonderful section of China’s Grand Canal and a demonstration park of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park through keynote speeches, roundtable dialogues, interactive exchanges and other forms.
