On 4 June, the 21st lecture of the “Science and Technology Academy” of the Provincial Science and Technology Department began, and Lu Zushan, former governor of Zhejiang Province and vice chairman of the Financial and Economic Committee of the National People’s Congress, gave a special report entitled “Brilliant Zhejiang — Long Song of the Transcendent” for party members and cadres in the science and technology system. Zhou Guohui, director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, presided over the meeting, which was attended by all cadres of the department, responsible persons of units under the department and retired veteran cadres.
Governor Lu Zushan served as a docent of the provincial museum in August 2011, with a deep friendship for Zhejiang, insisted on giving monthly public welfare lectures as a volunteer, and went to various parts of Zhejiang several times to explain the history of Zhejiang to cadres and the masses, which was very popular.
At the report meeting, Lv Zushan skillfully played his elaborate PPT courseware while telling meticulously and in detail, showing everyone many precious pictures, words and data recording the history and culture of Zhejiang. Through seven chapters, including “The Dawn of Civilization”, “Spring and Autumn Hegemony”, “The Transition Period of Zhejiang’s Civilization Process”, “The Economic and Social Development of Jiangnan and the Southward Shift of the National Economic Center”, “The Establishment of the Position of the National Political, Economic and Cultural Center”, “The Gathering of Rich and Rich Zhejiang Humanities” and “Revolutionary Pioneers”, it presents a magnificent and illustrated long scroll of Zhejiang history.
“Zhejiang has been able to transform from a desolate and remote place in history into one of the richest regions in our country, thanks to the power of culture – appeal, cohesion, creativity, binding force.” During the explanation, Lv Zushan expounded his research experience and unique insights on Zhejiang civilization from time to time. He said that throughout the history of Zhejiang, the essence of its culture lies in 10 words: self-improvement, people-oriented, pragmatic, inclusive, and innovative. These cultural traditions need to be continuously inherited and carried forward by Zhejiang people, and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and realize the “Chinese dream” with the spirit of unremitting struggle and struggle for self-improvement.
The wonderful lectures infected and stimulated the atmosphere of the class, and the cadres of the organs attending the lectures interacted with the old provincial governor on topics of interest. Finally, Director Zhou Guohui made a concluding speech. He said: The old provincial governor’s report is a lesson in showing love for Zhejiang. Between the lines, it reflects the deep feelings of a leading comrade who grew up locally and has been in charge of Zhejiang for a long time. The report condenses tens of thousands of years of history, and is interspersed with reading experience, governance perception, and philosophy, which is a feast of thought and culture. The old governor is not only imparting historical knowledge, but also practicing and carrying forward the cultural spirit of Zhejiang with his own practical actions, deeply studying and implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech when he inspected Zhejiang for the vast number of scientific and technological cadres, practicing the “three strictness and three truths”, and taking a practical lesson in teaching by word and deed. We must conscientiously study, profoundly comprehend, and consciously practice; in accordance with the requirements of “taking the lead, being a pioneer, and being a top soldier”, we must thoroughly implement the decisions and arrangements of the central and provincial party committees, and promote the implementation of various tasks of scientific and technological reform and development with solid action measures.
