On July 15th, the special exhibition “Longquan Celadon and Globalization in the World” jointly sponsored by the Palace Museum, the Zhejiang Provincial Museum and the Lishui Municipal People’s Government opened in the Zhai Palace of the Palace Museum. From the perspective of Longquan celadon, the exhibition expounds the exchange, mutual learning and development of Chinese and foreign cultures through 833 pieces (groups) of cultural relics from 42 cultural and art institutions at home and abroad. It is an exhibition of Longquan celadon with the largest number of exhibits, the widest source, the most diverse origin and the embodiment of multiculturalism.
Longquan celadon is a famous category in the development history of ancient porcelain industry in China. It began to form its own unique style in the Northern Song Dynasty and reached its heyday from the Southern Song Dynasty to the early Ming Dynasty. Because of its exquisite quality, Longquan celadon has been a palace article from the late Northern Song Dynasty to the early Ming Dynasty.
Taking Longquan celadon as the starting point, this exhibition shows the prosperity and development of land and sea ceramics road from Song and Yuan Dynasties in a three-dimensional way, which is divided into four units. The first unit is the Millennium Longquan, taking the historical context as the main line, telling the development process of Longquan kiln in the past thousand years, and revealing its internal factors that have influenced the world. The second unit is the national public instrument, which explains the profound relationship between Longquan celadon and the government in different historical periods, and also reflects the internal relationship between Longquan celadon and China culture. The third unit is popular in the world, showing the marketing and export of Longquan celadon in China and around the world. The last unit is to blend and reflect, showing Longquan celadon imitated by kilns at home and abroad. The exhibition period ends on October 20th.
In November this year, Longquan celadon from all over the world will return to their hometown and be exhibited in the Zhejiang Provincial Museum. Zhejiang is the producing area of Longquan kiln, so when the exhibition is exhibited in Zhejiang, the tracing content from “source” to “flow” will be appropriately increased to reflect the geographical nature of the exhibition. At that time, the audience can have a look at the “Longquan in the World”, the birthplace of Longquan celadon, which has been inherited for thousands of years.
