Since this spring, the epidemic of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus has been raging. Due to imported infection, our province once became the province with the highest incidence of confirmed cases, second only to Hubei. Zhejiang is the first province to launch the first level response to major public health emergencies.
To strengthen epidemic prevention and control work, the provincial intangible cultural heritage museums and various clustered intangible cultural heritage activities will be closed and suspended from January 24th. Chu Ziyu, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, requested that cultural and tourism cadres not only do a good job in epidemic prevention and control, but also leverage their professional expertise to provide positive energy to society through literary and artistic works. How to motivate the fighting spirit to overcome the epidemic in a situation where confirmed cases of pneumonia continue to rise? How to provide uplifting artistic performances for the people in the context of home prevention and control? How can intangible cultural heritage contribute to the people’s war? Intangible cultural heritage was originally a term that often appeared simultaneously with words such as “endangered”, “rescue”, and “protection”. In the fight against the epidemic, the wisdom and tradition passed down from generation to generation to fight against nature played a unique role, and the inheritors of intangible cultural heritage became an important force to integrate into the war against the epidemic. The intangible cultural heritage protection workers in Zhejiang have answered these reflections with practical actions.
