Another spring has arrived, and the four bright earth is filled with joy.
In the early morning of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, you can see the bustling scene: hundreds of cargo ships gather at the anchorage, waiting for the pilot to enter the port; In the yard of the port area, there are tens of thousands of neatly stacked containers loaded with “Made in Ningbo”, waiting to sail out.
What is’ world-class strong port ‘? The experience of Singapore, Rotterdam and other places shows that the world-class strong port should take the lead in demonstrating the coordinated development of the port city, smart port, green upgrading and other aspects. The function of the port should be transformed from a transport port to a trade logistics port, and become a comprehensive system integrating logistics, commodity flow, capital flow, talent flow, technology flow and information flow, so as to drive the development of urban industry and radiate the vast hinterland economy.
Land sea linkage, economically efficient. In the Chuanshan Port area of Zhoushan Port, Ningbo, cranes on both sides of the track take off and land, collect trucks for transportation, and transport goods from all over the country onto giant ships for overseas transportation. On one side of the track, it connects to inland areas such as Xi’an and Chongqing, and on the other side, it connects to one of the world’s largest single container terminals. “said Jiang Haijiang, the manager of the container terminal operation department in the Chuanshan Port Area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port. This year, the sea rail intermodal transportation business volume of the railway Chuanshan Port Station has exceeded 100000 standard containers. At present, the number of sea rail intermodal trains in Ningbo Zhoushan Port has increased to 21, covering 61 prefecture level cities in 16 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) across the country.
Digital port, smart and green. In the past two years, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has deeply applied technologies such as digital twins, artificial intelligence, unmanned driving, and 5G+Beidou positioning to promote the digitization of port production and operation, automation of port operations, digitization of logistics services, and the scale of new infrastructure. Since the launch of the “5G+Smart Port” in Meishan Port Area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port in October 2021, the level of digital management and external service capabilities of the port have significantly improved, with remote control automation operations exceeding 48% and labor costs reduced by more than 50%. The low-carbon demonstration projects in the two major port areas of Chuanshan and Meishan are steadily advancing, and the scale and technical level of environmental protection projects are among the top in the country’s ports.
First class facilities with strong support. In the past two years, a large number of projects, including docks, highways, railways, and waterways, have been accelerating along the continuous East Coast in Ningbo Zhoushan Port. The No.1 berth in Chuanshan Port Area has been completed and put into use, with a total of 11 container berths; The 100000 ton container berth at No. 7 Tongda in Beilun Port Area has passed the acceptance inspection for external use, with a designed annual throughput capacity of 63.60000 TEUs; The container terminals of Meishan Port Area, berths 6 to 10, are fully connected
First class service, safe and convenient. In the past two years, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has continuously expanded its network outward, increasing the number of container shipping routes to 287, connecting more than 600 ports worldwide. At the same time, we actively responded to the problem of shortage of cabin space, with the supply of empty containers exceeding 7.5 million TEUs in 2021 alone, a year-on-year increase of 23%.1%, effectively ensuring the stability of logistics chain supply. The “2021 Global Port Development Report” recently released by the Shanghai International Shipping Research Center shows that Ningbo Zhoushan Port. The throughput of 200 million tons of goods ranks first among the top 50 ports in the world, ranking first in the world for 13 consecutive years, with a year-on-year growth rate of 4% in 2021.4%.
Hong Kong thrives with the city, and the city prospers together. Research has shown that ports have multiple effects on the development of a city, including the multiplier effect of port economy, the agglomeration effect of port industries, the optimization effect of industrial structure, and the engine effect of foreign trade economy.
Over the past two years, Ningbo has focused on developing advanced manufacturing industries with high added value, high technological content, and low environmental burden, actively participating in both domestic and international cycles. With the implementation of major national strategies such as the Pilot Free Trade Zone, Ningbo is attracting more and more global advantageous resources to gather. In the administrative area of Beilun, where the Ningbo area of the Zhejiang Free Trade Zone is located, projects such as CNOOC LNG Phase II, Donghua Energy, and Geely Meishan have been completed and put into operation. 35 projects with a total investment of nearly 140 billion yuan, such as Geely Krypton New Energy Vehicles and Rongxin Semiconductor, have been signed.
The integration and interaction of “Hong Kong, industry, city, and culture” have gradually alleviated the problem of “large ports and small shipping”. In the past two years, a group of shipping service giants have settled in Yongcheng, and the Chinese headquarters of international liner companies and the China center of international authoritative maritime institutions have both achieved a breakthrough of “zero”. The Overall Plan for Ningbo Meishan Bay Provincial Tourism Resort (2021-2035) has been approved in principle by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, taking new steps in spatial reconstruction and environmental rebirth. In March last year, the Ningbo Municipal Government issued the “Action Plan for Addressing Shortcomings in the Ningbo Port and Shipping Service Industry”, proposing to strive to increase the proportion of value-added shipping services to 40% by 2025. In 2021, Ningbo ranked among the top ten in the Xinhua Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index for the first time.
Relying on the port and embracing openness, Ningbo’s economy is full of vitality. Last year, the total import and export volume of the city exceeded 1 trillion yuan for the first time, and the total foreign trade volume of Ningbo Port exceeded 2 trillion yuan; Ningbo Zhoushan Port completed a container throughput of 31.08 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 8%.2%, successfully ranked in the global “tier” of 30 million port containers, continuing to rank third in the world.
Revitalize the city with the port and promote the port with the city. At present, a beautiful picture of striving to build a modern coastal metropolis has slowly unfolded, and Ningbo’s practice will set a model for Chinese port cities.
