This year marks the 40th anniversary of the conclusion of the Sino-Japanese Treaty of Peace and Friendship, and Sino-Japanese relations have ushered in an important historical juncture in carrying forward the past and opening up the future. In recent years, economic and trade cooperation between Zhejiang and Japan has developed steadily, and enterprise exchanges have become increasingly close, contributing to the friendly relations between China and Japan.
In order to pragmatically promote local economic and trade exchanges and industrial docking between China and Japan, and deeply explore the potential of cooperation between the two places, on August 27 and 29, the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, together with relevant departments in the province, organized a business delegation of more than 80 people from more than 50 enterprises (institutions) to cooperate with Governor Yuan Jiajun’s visit to Japan, and held business forums on “Open Innovation and Sharing Opportunities” in Shizuoka Prefecture and Tokyo. The two events attracted more than 280 participants from more than 170 Japanese enterprises and institutions, promoting in-depth exchanges and precise docking between the two sides around the digital economy, high-end manufacturing, health and elderly care and other fields. These two mutual visits have been long-awaited by the industries of the two places, and will set off a climax of economic and trade cooperation between Zhejiang Province and Japan in recent years.
On August 29, the “Open Innovation Sharing Opportunities” 2018 China (Zhejiang)-Japan Business Forum was held in Tokyo. The forum was co-sponsored by the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, the Japan External Trade Organization, and co-organized by the Japan-China Economic Association, the Japan Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Japan-China Economic and Trade Center, the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, etc. Yuan Jiajun, Governor of Zhejiang Province, and Bohang Shimao, Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization, attended the forum and delivered speeches. Guo Yan, Chargé d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Japan, was invited to attend. Meng Gang, Director of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, introduced the important opportunities brought by the “four major” construction of Zhejiang Province, including the Greater Bay Area, the Great Garden, the Great Corridor and the Metropolitan Area, and Sheng Qiuping, Director of the Provincial Department of Commerce, focused on the advantages of Zhejiang Province’s platform, industry, trade, policy and environment. Representatives of Alibaba, Futong Group, Nimaotsu, Hangzhou Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Lvkang Medical Care, Ningbo Hankyu Department Store and other enterprises and platforms made speeches. More than 50 enterprises and institutions from Zhejiang and more than 110 enterprises, government agencies and universities from Japan attended the conference, with a total scale of more than 260 people. The participating enterprises are mainly concentrated in digital economy, medical and health, high-end manufacturing, chemical industry, finance, services, etc.
