On June 1st, the first online trade fair in Pinghu in 2022, the Japan South Korea Special Fair, was officially launched, marking the second consecutive year that Pinghu City has held the Japan South Korea Special Fair. More than 40 enterprises in our city participated in this online trade fair, involving industries such as luggage, strollers, and clothing. In order to further improve the effectiveness of the exhibition and provide precise matching services, our city began planning and organizing exhibitions at the end of April, and strengthened a series of promotion and publicity work, including the collection of high-quality products, liaison with overseas business associations, and advertising placement in overseas media. On the first day of the event, 12 outstanding enterprises including Rising Star Group, Liko Apparel, Jin Jianfeng Group, and Fangsheng Leather have been organized to conduct online negotiations with high-quality buyers from Japan and South Korea, including Marubeni Textile, Daxi Clothing, Daxi Xian, Qingyuan, Toytron, Wivis, and Alice Martha, and have reached an intention to purchase $210000. In the next two weeks, more than 30 enterprises will be facilitated to hold more than 120 “one-on-one” online procurement negotiations with more than 50 professional buyers from Japan and South Korea, helping enterprises expand the market and seize orders.
Since the outbreak of the global epidemic, as the main means for enterprises to expand international markets and obtain new orders, overseas offline exhibitions have been basically suspended. Pinghu City actively responded to the call of the Provincial Department of Commerce and organized a series of online trade fairs to help enterprises continue to deeply explore the international market. Since 2020, our city has hosted 10 online trade fairs and participated in more than 400 enterprises, involving key markets such as the European Union, Japan and South Korea, the Middle East, and the the Belt and Road. The number of events held and the results achieved rank first in Jiaxing.
Since the beginning of this year, the international epidemic and trade environment have become more complex and severe. Under the combined influence of multiple factors, enterprise market development activities have been significantly hindered, and the downward pressure on our city’s foreign trade has further increased. Faced with difficulties, our city continues to plan to hold a series of online trade fairs, establish a good platform, improve services, and spare no effort to stabilize the main body of foreign trade.
Since the implementation of the RCEP agreement, its promoting effect on the development of foreign trade has gradually become apparent. In the first quarter of this year, Pinghu City achieved a total import and export volume of 5.629 billion yuan to RCEP countries, of which 4.169 billion yuan was from Japan and South Korea, accounting for 74% of the total import and export volume of RCEP member countries in our city. The Japan South Korea market is the market with the closest trade relationship between RCEP member countries and our city, and has the greatest potential for cooperation within the future cooperation framework. It is also a key market for our city’s foreign trade exports.
In the next step, the Municipal Bureau of Commerce will play the role of industry associations according to the needs of enterprises and industrial characteristics, encourage group development, continue to plan and host online trade fairs for key areas such as the the Belt and Road and RCEP, support and encourage enterprises to continue to “go out” and expand the market by making good use of such modes as “acting as exhibitors”, and promote the stable and healthy development of foreign trade in the city.
