September 23rd is the lunar autumnal equinox and the fifth “Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival”. On the same day, the Changxing County Minzong Bureau, in collaboration with the Qibei Community New Era Civilization Practice Station in Longshan Street, the Changxing County Experimental Middle School Party Building Alliance Volunteer Team, and the Changxing Ying’ermei Education Center, a civilized and honest merchant in the jurisdiction, brought together young and middle-aged students from ethnic minorities and overseas Chinese from within the jurisdiction to gather in the Future Community Resident Reception Hall, Carry out national unity and progress promotion activities with the theme of “National Unity, Family, Celebrating the 20th National Day”, and celebrate the harvest during the “Harvest Festival”.
Autumn is the season of abundant harvest. Teenagers from all ethnic groups first enter the future community of Qibei, visit the community’s common prosperity farm on site, and understand the development status of new modern agriculture. Subsequently, the event divided the personnel into two groups. One group went to the picking base, where the persimmons turned red and the harvest was abundant. The community “Red Neighbor” volunteers led everyone to pick persimmons and celebrate the harvest together, and everyone was busy and happy. After picking the persimmons, everyone started making hanging persimmons under the guidance of volunteer teachers. Pick up a plane, peel off the persimmon skin, and then use a thin rope to hang the peeled persimmon through the T-shaped branches. After it dries naturally, the hanging persimmon cake is completed. During the process of picking persimmons and making hanging persimmons by hand, students not only feel the joy of harvesting fruits, but also appreciate the value of labor.
Another group, at the farm exhibition hall, the teacher led the children to get to know each other first. Each person introduced themselves briefly and learned finger games together. The children had communication and interaction in the game, gradually eliminating strangers and establishing relationships. Under the patient guidance of teachers and volunteers, the children were also interested in creating autumn harvest maps. The children carefully pasted the golden wheat fields and white clouds, chose the clay of their favorite color, carefully kneaded it into various grain shapes and pasted them on the painting, and then decorated the grain pile with small leaves. A beautiful autumn harvest map was completed. The children were enjoying the autumn harvest pictures they had made themselves, cheering and jumping one by one. I am extremely satisfied with the harvest paintings I personally made, “said Hui child Camilla happily. This activity has stimulated children’s longing and exploration for harvest, allowing the concept of harvest to deeply rooted in their hearts.
Changxing Zhushan Ecological Agriculture Development Co., Ltd. also participated in this event. Relevant personnel used the future community shared live broadcast room to carry out a special live broadcast of the Agricultural Harvest Festival, endorsing local characteristic agricultural products such as Zhushan honey, dried bamboo shoots, and dried fruits. The children watched the entire process.
This activity allowed children to deeply experience the warmth of the community family, deepen their understanding of “harvest”, establish the concept of “labor is precious, hard work leads to wealth”, promote communication and integration among the next generation of various ethnic groups, and enhance the sense of identity and happiness of community residents.
