A gift bag of Xinjiang specialties, a mention of Xinjiang baked naan, rice and oil… With a strong heart of gratitude and Chinese New Year greetings, on the morning of January 21, Mai Mai Ti Ali Mai Mai Timin, a new Cixi native from Xinjiang, walked into Hudong Village, Guanhaiwei Town, Cixi City, to comfort the elderly in need. This is a condolence item raised by donating the turnover of his barbecue restaurant for a week, and it is his love to feed back to his “second home”.
More than 20 years ago, Ai Li, who was only 15 years old, followed his father to Cixi. When I first arrived, I was not familiar with life, but the father and son were deeply infected by the local people’s spirit of being inclusive, daring to think and work, and hard-working. Ai Li made a vow to take root in Cixi.
Now, more than 20 years later, Cixi has become the “second hometown” that Ai Li often talks about to his fellow villagers. After his own hard work, here, he bought a car and a house, and the family lived prosperously. Especially at the beginning of 2020, Aili’s barbecue business ushered in a new breakthrough. With the help of the local government of Cixi, his barbecue stall was “moved” from the open air indoors, and a pure Xinjiang restaurant called “Red Willow Restaurant” set up next to the “Home of Nationalities” party mass service center in Guanhaiwei Town, Cixi City.
In order to feed back the “second hometown”, Ai Li not only participates in volunteer service every year, dedicates love, but also is enthusiastic about public welfare, donating money and materials from time to time to help the local people in need, and now he has become an active member of the party.
While going door-to-door to deliver condolences to the elderly in need in Hudong Village, Ai Li and his colleagues and the cadres of the Hudong Village Committee worked together to post spring couplets and hang blessing characters for the elderly to welcome the arrival of the New Year. At the time of parting, in order to express his gratitude, Qiu Yidong, secretary of the general branch of the party in Hudong Village, specially presented Ai Li with a certificate of honor and gave him a brand new party constitution, hoping that Ai Li would not forget his original intention, always listen to the party, follow the party, and draw concentric circles of national unity in Cixi, his second hometown.
“The government and people of Cixi enthusiastically open their arms and embrace compatriots of all ethnic groups, so that we can live a better life and feel the warmth of the ethnic family, and we must also hug each other tightly like pomegranate seeds, unite and love, and help each other forge ahead.” Aili said.
