The theme of this exhibition is “water dripping and sea watching”, and 90 works of artists from Taiwan Ocean Painting Association are displayed. Most of them are ink and wash works, mainly in freehand brushwork style. They use simple brushwork to present large pieces of ink and color, and show the grandeur of the sea. It makes the audience feel as if they are in the sea with dense moisture and feel the surging waves.
It can be seen that most of the ink and wash works of Taiwanese painters have added colors to show the beauty of mountains and seas, and also added layers to the picture, or showed various scenes of the sea in exquisite or freehand manner, and showed various aspects of the sea. Although these works show only the instant pictures fixed in the artist’s mind, they have collected the enthusiasm of Taiwanese artists for marine culture and the active exploration of marine theme creation.
In the afternoon, there was also an exchange and pen meeting between artists of the Taiwan Ocean Painting Association and Beilun painters. During the period, the Taiwan Ocean Painting Association will also hold an exhibition of Shen Yizheng’s paintings in the Beilun Library, and jointly carry out exchanges and collection activities with Beilun painters.
Taiwan is an island surrounded by the sea on all sides. The people of Taiwan have been closely related to the sea since ancient times. “Sea” is also an important theme for Taiwanese artists to create. In 2015, the Taiwan Ocean Painting Association was officially established, focusing on marine paintings. At present, it has held several exhibitions, which have received widespread attention and good response. This is the first work exhibition of the Taiwan Ocean Painting Fair in the mainland. I hope that through the exhibition, more lovers of ocean culture on both sides can feel the charm of ocean painting.
Beilun and Taiwan are geographically close, closely related and culturally compatible. There are more than 140 Taiwan-funded enterprises in Beilun, and there are more than 1000 permanent Taiwanese businessmen in Taiwan. Every year, tens of thousands of Taiwan compatriots come to Beilun to visit relatives, travel, sightseeing, and investigate. The economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between the two regions are extensive and in-depth. In the past two years, more than 200 Taiwanese athletes have come to Beilun to participate in the Ningbo International Marathon, the Yong-Taiwan Woodball Championships and other activities. The cross-strait Dragon Boat Race and the cross-strait small Hong Kong people’s cultural matchmaking and other activities held in Beilun have become key exchanges between the two places.
