From 4 to 8 December, the 18th regular session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO was held in Casane. In 2010, the third performance report of three projects listed in the list of intangible cultural heritage in urgent need of protection in China, namely, Maixi Refu, Chinese movable type printing, and manufacturing technology of China watertight bulkhead Fufu, passed the Committee’s deliberation successfully.
The Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage is the governing body of UNESCO’s Convention for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which holds a session every year. More than 900 representatives from 124 countries, 84 non-governmental organizations accredited by UNESCO and 5 second-class centers attended this regular session.
Rao Quan, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of China, led a delegation to attend the meeting, and visited Ethiopia from December 10 to 13, where he met with the heads of local cultural and tourism authorities and institutions, conducted in-depth discussions and reached a consensus on cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
