Recently, Ningbo Institute of Materials Engineering, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences was officially opened. Li Shushen, Academician of China Academy of Sciences, Party Secretary and President of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Zhong Guanhua, Deputy Secretary of Ningbo Municipal Committee, attended and delivered speeches.
Ningbo Institute of Materials Engineering of National Science and Technology University started construction in January 2019, with the direction of “integration of science, education and production, interdisciplinary and diversified training”. The college mainly covers materials science and engineering, chemistry, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering and other related disciplines. It is estimated that the number of graduate students will reach 3,000 in 2025.
Li Shushen pointed out that the Ningbo Institute of Materials Engineering of the National Science and Technology University of China is the first batch of science and education integration colleges started by the National Science and Technology University outside Beijing. Combined with the needs of Ningbo’s economic and social development, it has trained a number of outstanding innovative and entrepreneurial talents and achieved a number of important scientific and technological innovations. It is hoped that the College will adhere to and continue to deepen the integration of science and education of the National Science and Technology University, closely combine the needs of local economic and social development, and strive to open a new milestone in promoting the development of education, science and technology and talent construction. It is also hoped that Zhejiang Province and Ningbo City will continue to care for and support the Ningbo Institute of Materials Engineering of the National Science and Technology University, and further help the high-quality development of Ningbo Institute of Materials of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Zhong Guanhua said that the establishment of the Ningbo Institute of Materials Engineering of the National Science and Technology University of China is highly in line with the development layout and future strategy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ningbo. It is hoped that the institute and the city will work together to build a strong magnetic field to attract talents, strengthen the engine of industrial upgrading, create an incubator for innovation and creation, and jointly write a new chapter in strategic cooperation between famous schools and cities.
More than 10 academicians including Li Yanrong, Xue Qunji, Shen Baogen, Huang Wei, Li Wei, Wang Jianyu, Yang Deren and Tu Shandong attended the event, and Zheng Minqiang, Lin Yalian and Xi Ming attended.
