On August 30th, Shen Honghai and Zhang Zhuoyin, cadres of the United Front in Daochang Township, Wuxing District, Huzhou, brought school supplies to the home of Yan Jindong, a student, together with the teachers of Chengnan Experimental School. It is understood that Yan Jindong, a fifth-grade class 2 student, lives in a single-parent family because of his father’s death. Yan Jindong’s mother works in her uncle’s Lamian Noodles store. Because of the demolition of the Lamian Noodles store, her mother is facing the loss of her job and the rent is about to expire. So she can only take her son Yan Jindong back to her hometown. According to the teacher of Chengnan Experimental School, Yan Jindong is a “good prospect”. If she goes back to her hometown and doesn’t urge her to study, she will easily miss a good life. I hope her mother can consider it carefully. At the scene, the staff of Dojo Township United Front Work said, We will actively find a place close to the school for their mother and son, and connect with other towns and streets, make suggestions for their uncle, recommend a place suitable for opening a shop, let the mother and son set their minds at rest in Xing Wu, Huzhou, and let Yan Jindong complete his studies with peace of mind and be admitted to the ideal school.
On the eve of the start of this year, the staff of the United Front Department of Dojo Township and the teachers of Xing Wu Chengnan Experimental School visited a number of ethnic minority students in their respective jurisdictions. Everywhere they went, they brought back the difficulties encountered by the students, striving for the support of the United Front and people from all walks of life, so that more ethnic minority students could be rewarded and helped, and their feelings of national unity could be conveyed with love. This home visit is also a new attempt to integrate the United front work in Dojo township with the home visit in school, enlightening the national feelings, national complex and compatriots of ethnic minority students.
In recent years, Daochang Township has devoted itself to the United front work and the education of national unity and progress. In the original new work path of “six similarities”, the integration of township and school has been further promoted. The so-called “six similarities” means that, first, a textbook is compiled together, and relevant United front people are invited to participate in the extended research of minority education in schools, and a special textbook of “National Knowledge Education” is jointly compiled. The second is to teach a course at the same time. The school will co-ordinate the teachers and class hours, and set up a “National Knowledge Education Popularization Course”. Relying on the information base of four United front people in Daochang Township and the platform for ethnic minorities in Wuxing District, three United front people will be invited to participate in the teaching. The third is to open a lecture hall at the same time, and set up a “Great Lecture Hall for Parents’ Ethnic Education”, inviting ethnic minorities to teach parents about the knowledge and cases of ethnic unity and progress, so that families and schools can work together to promote ethnic education. The fourth is to set up an exhibition with ethnic minority students to perform ethnic customs programs, so that teachers and students in the whole school can understand ethnic minority cultures and enhance exchanges and feelings among ethnic groups. Fifth, build a volunteer team together and set up the “Southern Ethnic Love Volunteer Service Team”, with 16 members, which not only helps ethnic minority students and families, but also helps parents of students of all ethnic groups to participate in volunteer service and public welfare activities. Sixth, raise a fund together, and plan to set up the “South of the City Love Scholarship Fund for Ethnic Minorities” to win the support of the United Front and people from all walks of life, so that more ethnic minority students can be rewarded and helped..Pass on national unity with love.
It is understood that Chengnan Experimental School currently has 1,455 students from 24 provinces and 16 ethnic groups in China, including 70 ethnic minority students. Daochang Township Joint School takes “six similarities” as the carrier, enlightening ethnic minority students’ national feelings, national complex and compatriots’ feelings from an early age, and building a new pattern of United front work integrating townships and schools.
