“One bottle and one can are all in the south of the Yangtze River-an exhibition of unearthed cultural relics at the kiln site at the foot of Miaoxi Temple” was held recently in the Qianye Guild Hall of Hucheng. Twenty-six objects that were once buried in the ground were neatly placed in the sedan chair of the money industry club, telling the citizens of the exhibition about the past years.
It is understood that in order to serve the construction of the 104 National Road Diversion Project in Huzhou City, from October to December 2019, Zhejiang Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and Huzhou Cultural Relics Protection Management Office conducted a rescue archaeological excavation of the kiln site at the foot of Miaoxi Town Hall in our city, and unearthed a batch of Tang Dynasty bowls, cans, dishes, lamps and other porcelain and kiln furniture such as cakes and tubes. Wang Jiang, the person in charge of archaeological excavation of the kiln site at the foot of the temple, told the reporter that the types of cultural relics unearthed at the kiln site at the foot of the temple were quite rich, and they were basically porcelain used in daily life at that time, which was simple but smart. “These simple and smart household porcelain played an irreplaceable role in that era and were necessities for ordinary people’s lives.”
In order to show the archaeological achievements to the public, Huzhou Cultural Relics Protection Management Office sorted out the unearthed artifacts, collected the unearthed fine cultural relics, and reproduced the prosperity of folk porcelain industry in Huzhou area in Tang Dynasty through vivid pictures and unique perspectives. The exhibition will last until June 30th.
