Running Tibetan classes in the Mainland well is an important strategic plan for the Party and the state to speed up the cultivation of outstanding minority talents, accelerate the economic development and social progress in the border areas, and enhance national unity.
“Thanks to the careful cultivation of our alma mater, from the plateau to the water town, we feel the warmth of home in Huzhou thousands of miles away. May our alma mater create new glory for ethnic education in the new journey. ” Jia Yongwangzha, a graduate of the first Tibetan class, sent blessings to his alma mater through video. “It’s been 20 years!” At the 20th anniversary celebration of ethnic education held at Linghu Middle School in Huzhou at the end of November last year, Shen Weiqiang, director of Tibet Department, said with emotion.
Linghu Middle School has been undertaking the task of aiding Tibet education since 2002. It is the only ordinary high school in Zhejiang Province entrusted by the Ministry of Education to undertake the task of teaching Tibet in the mainland. At present, there are 405 Tibetan students in school, accounting for about 1/4 of the total number of students, and it is one of the largest high schools in the mainland where Tibetan classes are transferred to classes. In the past 20 years, Linghu Middle School has watered the blossoming buds from the snowy plateau with heart and affection.
It is not easy for a group of 14-and 15-year-old children to study away from their parents with the mission of “going back to build their hometown”. Even more difficult, there is a group of people-Tibetan class teachers. When we walked into this group of “Tibetan aid cadres who have not entered Tibet”, we found that behind their fruitful education, it was unimaginable for ordinary people to pay. They should not only pay attention to their children’s learning, but also worry about their food, clothing, housing, transportation and physical and mental health. They have a code name-“365 24”, which means 365 days, regardless of day or night. As long as students need it, they will appear in classrooms, dormitories and canteens at any time …
“Teachers are like lighthouses, pointing out the direction for us.” Tenzin Wangxiu, a graduate of 2016, has worked for China Civil Aviation Xizang Autonomous Region Administration as an air traffic controller. In the telephone chat, we can feel his miss for the teacher and his alma mater.
This is a two-way love, and the sunshine that shines on Tibet also warms the teacher himself. Over the past 20 years, the school has trained 1,365 outstanding high school graduates for Tibet, 81.3% of whom have been admitted to’ double-class’ universities such as Peking University, Zhejiang University and Fudan University. In recent years, the key admission rate of Tibetan students has reached over 90%, and two students have been admitted to Peking University for further study.
In 2022, 136 Tibetan students participated in the college entrance examination, and 126 of them were on the key line, with a key rate of 92.3%. Many students were admitted to famous universities such as Zhejiang University, Tongji University, Wuhan University and East China Normal University. In the next step, Nanxun District will actively cooperate with the school to continuously build a sense of the Chinese nation’s community, adhere to the five educations, continue to deepen the integration education, steadily improve the quality of education, and polish the gold business card of “seeing beautiful Gesanghua flowers in South Taihu Lake”.
