Open the door of Zhejiang Provincial Museum, stirring the picture of time and space of the wind of history.
The jade cong of Liangzhu, the bronze house of the Spring and Autumn Period, and the seven harp of the Middle Tang Dynasty… What stories have happened on this land in the past and today?
How were they “born”?
With these questions in mind, we travel through time and space and have an in-depth dialogue with these “predecessors”.
The clock moves back to the distant Neolithic age.
Yuhang, 5000 years ago, was born a square appearance, inside the round baby.
His height is 8.8 cm, weight 6.5 kg. It is the heaviest, largest, and most exquisite piece of Liangzhu jade cong found so far, and is also affectionately known as the “king of jade cong”.
The body of this artifact is carved on each side with a complete image of the face of the gods, men and beasts. After professional technical restoration, we can see the facial features of the beast face clearly. The graphics are concave and convex, delicate and neat, and the lines of the eyes, mouth and nose are coherent and smooth. Although the whole ornament is only the size of a matchbox, it is extremely finely carved. There are even four or five thin lines on the spacing of each millimeter of individual carvings, and the thickness of the lines is as good as the hair.
“This kind of composite image of gods, men and beasts should be the ‘divine emblem’ worshiped by the Liangzhu people. Judging from the structure of the pattern, it should be a person with a feather crown on his head, which may represent a god or a sorcerer. “The museum’s experts interpreted the meaning of the image.
Today, “Yucong” has long become one of the symbols of Hangzhou. Although he is “old”, it does not prevent contemporary artists from incorporating his shape and ornamentation into their works, such as the comprehensive training hall of one of the “three halls of the Asian Games”.
So, how did this “popular star” debut?
In 1986, the site of Liangzhu Anti-Mountain, which had been buried deep underground for thousands of years, was rediscovered. When archaeologists carried out excavations, they found a total of 11 noble tombs of Liangzhu culture, and unearthed more than 1,200 pieces (groups) of burial goods, including more than 1,100 pieces (groups) of jade.
There are more than 40 types of jade ware, including jade cong, jade bi, jade yue, jade trident ware, jade pillar ware, jade comb back, jade “scepter” mao, jade bird, jade turtle, jade cicada and so on.
“Our ‘King of Yucong’ was unearthed from the highest-ranking tomb among the 11 tombs, the No. 12 tomb of the anti-mountain, which is known as the ‘Tomb of the Amazing King’. At the same time as it, there was also a jade Yue known as the ‘Yue King’. It is worth mentioning that the ‘Yue King’ is carved with the same mark. Experts revealed that at that time, jade was used as a ritual weapon. “King Cong” is a symbol of the highest religious sacrifice right, and “Yue Wang” is a symbol of the highest military command, that is to say, the owner of the tomb of Tomb No. 12 of the anti-mountain is a man who combines divine power and military power. It also shows that the supreme power of theocracy has been highly concentrated in the hands of individuals.
If you compare the “Jade King” to a heroic and warlike “conductor”. Then, as a neighbor, the “Caifeng Mingqi” lyre is a peerless “talented girl”.
In the second year of the Tang Dynasty (714), a craftsman named Lei Wei brushed off the wood chips on the body of the piano, and a new piano was about to be completed. This is a Luoxia-style guqin, and the length of the qin is 124.8 centimeters, and later generations named her “Caifeng Mingqi”. In the following thousand years, the guqin has been circulated several times, and finally “settled” in the Zhejiang Provincial Museum.
Here, there are also the statues of the Bodhisattvas of the Northern Song Dynasty, the celadon boat-shaped inkstones of the Longquan kiln of the Yuan Dynasty, and the sword of the Yue King during the Warring States Period…… The citizens of Hangzhou also gave these precious cultural relics a domineering combination name – the top ten “treasures of the town hall”.
