Today, the exhibition “Zhu Mud Quenching, Vegetation Brightening —— Collection of Ancient and Modern Crafts of Wuzhou Kiln” sponsored by Zhejiang Provincial Museum and co-organized by Wuyi County Museum was held in the West Lake Art Museum of Zhejiang Provincial Museum.
The exhibition brings together the collections of many museums in the province and the outstanding works of 22 inheritors of contemporary Wuzhou kiln ceramic firing skills, focusing on the complex features of ancient Wuzhou kiln and its inheritance and development in the contemporary era. There are 117 exhibits, including 83 cultural relics (including 35 precious cultural relics) and 34 contemporary works. The exhibition will last until August 27th.
According to the staff of Zhejiang Museum, the exhibition is divided into two units: “Wuyao Ancient Porcelain” and “Wuyao Fresh Air”. “Wuyao Ancient Porcelain” presents the history and technology of Wuzhou kiln from three angles: glaze color, vessel type and decoration. “New Style of Wuyao Kiln” has two chapters, namely, “Learning from the past” and “Bringing forth the old and bringing forth the new”. Through precious exhibits, it shows the technological level, innovative and ingenious thinking of contemporary kiln craftsmen in Wuzhou, as well as their spirit of continuous study and improvement on the basis of inheriting the tradition.
The number of kiln sites and the long production age of Wuzhou kiln are rare in China. Many rare treasures appear in this exhibition, such as the five-tube celadon bottle of the three kingdoms Wuzhou kiln geisha figurines in Wuyi County Museum. This five-tube bottle is gourd-shaped, with four small tubes attached to the upper layer. The five tubes are open at the top of the head and communicate with the belly. The lower part is a conventional tank, and the middle tube and two small tubes are the image of Hu people. This design is typical of Wuzhou kiln.
In addition to precious cultural relics, the exhibition also brings together many works by masters of arts and crafts. Their creativity and skills endow Wuzhou Kiln with new connotations, and also let the audience appreciate the elegance of contemporary craftsmen. (Correspondent Li Yiyi, reporter Yu Qian)
