On the morning of July 1st, “The 100th anniversary of the Chinese translation of the Communist Manifesto” was grandly opened in Yiwu Museum.
This exhibition selected exhibits more than 100 pieces (sets), mainly from the museum collection and social enthusiasts and institutions provided.
The exhibition is divided into three chapters: the first chapter “Pursuit of Truth (1892-1919)”, the second chapter “Communication of Truth (1919-1923)”, and the third chapter “Practice Avenue (1923-1977)”.
Exhibition through literature, physical and picture display form, about Mr Chen Wangdao revolutionary experience, moral articles and personality charm, in the beginning of the 20th century Chen Wangdao revolutionary predecessors for truth, for the fate of thinking and struggle, also vivid interpretation of China choose the historical inevitability of marxism and correctness.
The exhibition time is from July 1 to August 31.
Mr.Chen Wangdao (1891-1977), a native of Yiwu, Zhejiang province, was a pioneer of the Chinese Communist movement and one of the founders of the Communist Party of China, a famous social activist, educator and scholar.
Mr.Chen Wangdao devoted himself to the New Culture Movement in his early years. In 1920, he translated the first full Chinese translation of the Communist Manifesto of China, making a historic contribution to promoting the spread of Marxism in China.
Since the 1920s, Mr.Chen Wangdao actively advocated and participated in social reform, women’s liberation, language reform, and jointly promoted the left-wing cultural movement with Mr.Lu Xun, which is the representative of the progressive force in the ideological and cultural front in the period of the democratic revolution.
After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, he served successively as president of Fudan University, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Democratic League, and Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Democratic League.
