Sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the State Language Commission, the 5th Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing and Speaking Contest was launched in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province on April 13. The competition will promote the excellent Chinese language and culture through language and cultural activities such as recitation, explanation, writing, seal carving, etc., and show the inheritance and innovation of Chinese classics by the public, especially young people.
With the theme of “A New Era of Scholarly Fragrance, a New Journey of ‘Classics'”, the competition is divided into four sub-competitions, including the “Reading China” Classic Recitation Contest, the “Poetry Teaching China” Poetry Explanation Contest, the “Pen and Ink China” Chinese Character Writing Contest and the “Imprint China” Teacher and Student Seal Carving Competition, which are divided into preliminary rounds, semi-finals, finals and displays. On the day of the launch of the competition, the “Dazzling China” reading conference was also held at the same time. The conference was guided by the Department of Pragmatics of the Ministry of Education, and hosted by the National Language Promotion Base (Nankai University) and the Executive Committee of the Competition (Chinese Language Publishing House), together with the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education and the Jinhua Municipal People’s Government. At the conference, a number of experts and scholars conducted in-depth dialogues on four themes: “Chinese Modernization and National Reading”, “Digital Intelligence Era and All-Media Reading”, “Scholarly Campus and Youth Reading”, and “Cultural Self-confidence and Self-improvement and Chinese Classic Reading”.
