On the morning of October 12, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and Taiping Science and Technology Insurance Co., Ltd. formally signed a “shared insurance” to insure 113 large-scale scientific research instruments with a total value of 87.94 million, which have been installed with Internet of Things sensors and are in good operation.
“Shared Insurance” insurance product is the first insurance product for scientific research instruments and equipment developed by Zhejiang Science and Technology Project Management Center and Taiping Science and Technology Insurance Co., Ltd. under the guidance of Zhejiang Science and Technology Department.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Provincial Science and Technology Department, “shared insurance” insurance is not an ordinary commercial product, but an exclusive product developed by innovative introduction of financial innovation after comprehensive consideration of comprehensive factors such as daily use frequency of equipment, failure frequency and after-sales service. This product aims to reduce the economic losses caused by the risk of damage of scientific research instruments in the open sharing work, dispel the concerns of various innovation carriers, and let the “one river of spring water” sharing scientific and technological resources really inject surging momentum into the innovation of Zhejiang.
The first batch of equipment signed for insurance today is 113 large-scale scientific research instruments of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, with a premium of nearly 100,000 yuan. These large-scale scientific research instruments have been connected to the open sharing platform of large-scale scientific research instruments in Zhejiang Province. The value of a single instrument is more than 300,000 yuan, and the Internet of Things sensors are installed, which is in good operation. The insurance coverage is divided into two grades: more than 800,000 and less than 800,000, and the premiums are 1000 yuan/Taiwan/year and 800 yuan/Taiwan/year respectively. During the insurance period, some of the maintenance costs of these large-scale scientific research instruments will be borne by the insurance company due to accidents, suddenness, force majeure and other factors in the open sharing use, with the maximum insured amount reaching 80,000 yuan.
“Participating in’ shared insurance’ is an innovative measure for the management of large-scale scientific research instruments and equipment in Zhejiang Sci-Tech University.” Chen Wenhua, vice president of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, said at the signing ceremony that he hoped to strengthen the management of large-scale scientific research instruments through school-enterprise cooperation and insurance leverage, improve the use efficiency of large-scale scientific research instruments in the school, guide the owners of scientific research instruments to actively participate in the open sharing work, provide risk protection for creating a good open sharing mechanism of scientific research instruments, reduce the maintenance burden of instruments and equipment, build a solid risk barrier, and provide strong support for the development of higher education in Zhejiang Province.
In the next step, the Provincial Science and Technology Department will focus on large-scale scientific research instruments’ open sharing of innovative services such as “one-finger operation”, give full play to the empowerment of financial instruments such as “sharing guarantee”, improve the utilization rate of large-scale scientific research instruments, provide living water for fully releasing the service potential, provide rich soil for serving scientific and technological innovation and social needs, and provide effective support for implementing the innovation-driven development strategy.
