The three things of setting up a factory overseas, establishing a singing and dancing troupe, and caring for “little migratory birds” may sound like a big span, but in Jiangbei District, Ningbo, a cross-border person named Zhang Junhong integrated them together, not only creating a “golden business card” of national culture with Ningbo’s recognition, but also continuing to write a new chapter of “all ethnic groups tightly embrace each other like pomegranate seeds”.
On the basis of managing the factory well, he made efforts to promote national culture and established a national song and dance troupe, spreading China’s brilliant national culture to various parts of the world. At the same time, he cares for the “little migratory bird” with a sincere heart, hoping that the children can dance out the wonderful dance of their own lives.
Resigning from an iron rice bowl and going to the sea to drive the villagers to become wealthy
In 1995, Zhang Junhong came from his hometown of Dali, Yunnan to study at Ningbo University. After graduation, he worked at Ningbo Cigarette Factory. In 2004, when he was receiving the best treatment in the factory, Zhang Junhong resolutely resigned and chose to go overseas, founding Huaqiao Craft Packaging Co., Ltd. The first batch of employees were the villagers he brought from his hometown village.
The pace of life in my hometown is very slow, and the villagers mainly work in agriculture. They sing and dance in their leisure time, “said Zhang Junhong. Although this kind of life is very comfortable, the economic conditions have not improved. When he broadened his horizons in the eastern coastal cities, he even wanted to drive his fellow villagers to become rich.
At first, most villagers were content with the current situation and had a skeptical attitude towards going out to work, with only a few willing to follow Zhang Junhong to Ningbo for work. Unexpectedly, the factory started making profits from the first month, and after earning money, the villagers returned to their hometown, driving more villagers to work in Ningbo. At that time, there was a great demand for labor in Ningbo. Zhang Junhong’s factory not only solved the problem of labor shortage in Ningbo, but also solved the employment problem of the villagers, helping the people in his hometown establish the concept of hard work and prosperity, which can be said to be a remarkable achievement.
Due to the fact that most of the employees are from ethnic minorities, Zhang Junhong transformed the office into a style that integrates multiple ethnic cultures. The hollowed out doors were specially transported from Yunnan for assembly. In this way, a “national home” was born in the factory.
Establishing a National Song and Dance Troupe to showcase the beauty of China
Song and dance are an indispensable part of the lives of ethnic minorities. In their spare time, employees always gather together to sing and dance and entertain themselves.
Zhang Junhong has also had a passion for literature and art since childhood, and has a particular fondness for national culture. He has always had a dream of engaging in the cause of national culture. So the idea of establishing a national song and dance troupe sprouted in his mind.
In 2011, an amateur literary and artistic team, the Oriental Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe, was officially established. Zhang Junhong pays attention to recruiting literary and artistic enthusiasts from various ethnic groups with artistic performance expertise, injecting fresh blood into the singing and dancing troupe.
Since its establishment, the Oriental Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe has dedicated itself to creating over 20 cultural and artistic programs that are deeply loved by audiences and have ethnic characteristics. It has participated in over 2000 performances of all sizes, with an audience of over 1.5 million.Received unanimous praise from people from all walks of life in society; At the same time, making full use of one’s own advantages, actively participating in a series of social welfare activities such as “going to the countryside” and “cultural activities” in Ningbo, actively going to the grassroots, rural areas, and military camps, becoming a beautiful business card for private cultural performance and cultural promotion enterprises.
At present, the performance scope of the Oriental Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe extends to Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Anhui, with almost daily performance plans. At the end of last year, a “Ancient Wind Night Banquet” was both well received and well received; The recent performance of “Tie Tie Hua” in the Old Bund of Ningbo was even more stunning, but what Zhang Junhong is most proud of is their original stage play “Panda Master”.
The image of pandas is particularly popular abroad, “Zhang Junhong said.” Panda Master “is a dance carefully rehearsed by the Eastern Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe to explore overseas markets. They have been invited to perform this play in multiple countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Germany, and the response has been very enthusiastic.
While spreading China’s splendid ethnic culture to various parts of the world, the Oriental Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe also attracts literary and artistic workers from Russia, Ghana, Liberia and other countries, constantly enriching its performance content and form.
Enthusiastic in public welfare undertakings, caring for “little migratory birds”
While promoting national culture, Zhang Junhong actively engages in public welfare undertakings. At first, due to employees’ busy work and neglect of care, their children were prone to sports injuries or accidents caused by swimming during holidays. This made Zhang Junhong realize that he should pay attention to the issue of employee child custody.
In 2005, Zhang Junhong built a new multi-functional hall in the company to accommodate the children of employees. In addition to recruiting college students to provide tutoring for the children, he also invited fellow villagers working at the Ningbo Art Museum to teach painting and bear all the lunch expenses for the children. The employees of the nearby factory saw the situation and requested that Zhang Junhong also receive his own children.
So, Zhang Junhong rented 450 square meters of space and upgraded the original “National Home” to a “Little Migratory Bird” base that integrates book reading, manual experience, and multi-functional rehearsal hall, providing free art courses and public welfare teaching of film and television aesthetics.
As the scope of care for the “little migratory birds” became larger and larger, starting in 2016, Zhang Junhong collaborated with the school for migrant workers’ children and dispatched teachers to open art training classes during holidays, with 25 people per class and 4-6 classes. The quota was quickly filled every time. All the expenses of the training class are borne by Zhang Junhong, just to allow the “little migratory birds” to spend their holidays happily and safely. Since 2005, more than 3000 children have benefited.
Privately, Zhang Junhong has been silently supporting some students from disadvantaged backgrounds. In the custody class, Zhang Junhong found children with strong learning intentions but financial difficulties in their families, and took the initiative to bear their miscellaneous expenses until they graduated from university and entered society..Poor children have established primary schools and fully utilized the rich resources of song and dance troupes to invest over 5 million yuan again to build the “Panda Master” Music Production Center Art Training School, working together with streets, communities, and schools in various regions to build the “Little Migratory Bird Home”. During the severe epidemic period in 2020, he raised 1 million yuan to participate in donations of epidemic prevention materials from various regions.
I don’t ask for anything in return, I just hope these children can dance the wonderful dance of their own lives, “said Zhang Junhong.
