Huzhou Normal University has successfully restored the first batch of “Wei’s Music” musical instruments in Ming Dynasty in China. This achievement was jointly completed by the Conservatory of Music of Huzhou Normal University, Huzhou Key Laboratory of Sound Resource Data Mining and Intelligent Service Technology and Fuqing Shande Wei’s Music Score Culture Research and Exchange Center in Ming Dynasty. It is a successful exploration of the transformation of scientific research achievements.
It is reported that the exploration of this achievement transformation can not be separated from the technical support of Huzhou Key Laboratory of Sound Resource Data Mining and Intelligent Service Technology. It is understood that the laboratory was established by the Conservatory of Music of Huzhou Normal University, aiming at helping the protection, presentation and development of local traditional sound resources with digital analysis and artificial intelligence, creating a new pattern of interdisciplinary construction of the Conservatory of Music and boosting the new development of China’s cultural tourism industry.
As a characteristic achievement of scientific research transformation in the field of music, the restoration of ancient musical instruments and the activation of traditional instrumental music are important research topics in contemporary times, which are not only based on academics and rooted in tradition, but also close to the public and rooted in society. In this restoration process, the laboratory used digital technology, relied on the empowerment of “internet plus”, integrated the research methods of iconology, morphology, philology and other disciplines, and finally successfully restored 11 ancient Ming Dynasty musical instruments through cooperation with Li Jianyu, the inheritors of “Quanzhou Nanyin Musical Instrument Making Skills Workshop” and Du Zhiyang, the Royal Music Studio. Different from ordinary musical instrument making, each musical instrument is basically the same as the original in appearance and shape, and its length, width, height, sound hole or sound column spacing are the same as the original musical instrument. In terms of rhythm, intonation and timbre, it not only pursues the style of the Ming Dynasty, but also achieves the effect of stage performance. It also has matching ancient music scores for playing, which can achieve the state of complete restoration of the Ming Dynasty poetry, fill the gap in the study of Wei’s musical instrument manufacturing and poetry music in the Ming Dynasty in China, and also has contemporary performance, appreciation and education.
It is reported that this batch of musical instruments is currently being exhibited in the Yuan Universe Music, Dance and Drama Industry College jointly established by Wuxing District of Huzhou City and Huzhou Normal University, and this batch of musical instruments will be premiered at the Mingle Restoration Concert jointly sponsored by Huzhou Normal University and Changxing County Government in November this year. At that time, the sound of silk and bamboo in the Ming Dynasty will ring in Huzhou through the torrent of time.
