According to the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, at around 1:50 pm local time on March 14th, multiple Chinese factories were smashed, looted, and burned by illegal elements in the Laidaya Industrial Zone located on the outskirts of Yangon, Myanmar. The nature of this smashing, looting, and burning incident is severe, causing damage to multiple Chinese factories and injuring multiple Chinese personnel. According to incomplete statistics, property losses are over 240 million yuan. In response to this incident, the Municipal Bureau of Commerce immediately made work arrangements in accordance with the requirements of the higher authorities. One is to act quickly and sort out the situation. The Municipal Bureau of Commerce conducted a comprehensive investigation of our city’s investment in Myanmar as soon as possible, including the number of enterprises in Myanmar, asset overview, safety status, security conditions, and whether assistance is needed. According to the investigation results, there are a total of 4 investment enterprises in Myanmar in our city, and currently there are no employees in Myanmar. The enterprises are in good condition outside of Myanmar. The second is to proactively contact and strengthen reminders to enterprises. At present, the domestic situation in Myanmar is tense, and commercial activities are seriously affected. The Municipal Bureau of Commerce has contacted enterprises in Myanmar multiple times, reminding them to strengthen their awareness of security precautions and take necessary measures to ensure personal and property safety. The third is to continuously track and strengthen communication and docking. Designate a dedicated person to provide one-on-one service, constantly monitor the situation and progress of enterprises in Myanmar, and issue a service hotline to guide enterprises to immediately contact the Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, Embassy in Myanmar Business Office, and China Chamber of Commerce in case of emergency, ensuring timely response.
