Xu Jianwei, male, born in 1971, is a teacher of Traditional Chinese medicine in Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University. He has been the provincial science and technology commissioner of Huangtankou Township, Qujiang District since 2019.
Member of Zhejiang Nature Education Professional Committee, awarded the 2019 Zhejiang Education Annual Impact Person.
Traditional Chinese medicine is the key to open the treasure house of Chinese civilization.
At present, the revitalization and development of traditional Chinese medicine has witnessed a favorable time, favorable location and favorable people. As a TCM worker, I feel I have the responsibility to inherit, develop and make good use of the precious wealth left to us by my ancestors.
I spent 7 years to build a Baicao garden with a planting area of more than 20 mu, including 410 kinds of medicinal materials, integrating traditional Chinese medicine culture science, forestry science and nature education, which has become a physical teaching site for students to demonstrate and recognize.
In 2019, I came to Huangtankou Township of Qujiang District as a provincial science and technology correspondent. I learned that Yawangshan of Huangtankou Township is located in the national forest park, with more than 400 kinds of rare Chinese medicine. I decided to copy my experience in school, combined with Qujiang Chinese medicine industry and the construction of the beautiful big garden, to make the “flavor” of Yawangshan stronger.
In the ancient village of Chaping Village, Huangtankou Township, I built a medicinal botanical garden covering an area of more than 20 mu, more than 120 kinds of Chinese herbal medicine, integrating health care, traditional Chinese medicine tourism, and popular science and research of Chinese herbal medicine.
From the site selection, planning, the establishment of Chinese herbal medicine varieties, to the procurement of Chinese herbal medicine seeds and the technical guidance of the later planting management, I have devoted a lot of efforts to every step.
After more than 4 years of hard work, ChaPing Village Baicao Garden has begun to take shape.
Along the winding steps up the mountain, a rectangular test field growing a variety of medicinal plants, some have been harvested, some are still blooming, the mountains and fields fragrant.
With the gradual development of the publicity work, there are often teachers and parents with children to come to visit and study.
Several times when I came to Chaping Village from Hangzhou to serve, I could see their happy figure, and I can not help but act as a guide for the children.
They looked at the pictures and profiles of drugs on the bold signs inserted in the field, and listened to the field. Parents and teachers also scanned the QR code with their mobile phones, and immediately a detailed video text introduction jumped out.
Looking at their earnest eyes, I think my work is very valuable.
I also believe that with the improvement of relevant supporting facilities such as Chaping villagers, Baicao Garden will play an more and greater role in the popularization of Chinese medicine science and tourism in Quzhou City.
