Zhejiang Daily, Hangzhou, June 18-Promote cultural exchanges and show the elegant demeanor of civilization, and the ancient Silk Road will continue to write a new chapter in the new era. On June 18th, Yuhuangshan Road, Hangzhou, China Silk Museum, a grand gathering of people-to-people exchanges in countries along the Silk Road-the home event of 2021 Silk Road Week was opened. The theme of this year’s Silk Road Week is “Multiple Coexistence and Inclusive Development”.
At the opening ceremony, more than 20 organizations, including UNESCO, World Silk Road University Alliance, British Museum and University of Venice, Italy, sent video messages and congratulatory letters. Xia Zehan, representative of UNESCO in China, believes that this event belongs not only to China, but also to the whole world: “How can countries join hands and take cultural exchange as an opportunity to create a more harmonious and beautiful world? We can find the answer here. “
This is the second time that Zhejiang has hosted “Silk Road Week”. In June, 2020, the event was held for the first time and gained great popularity at home and abroad.
Different from last year, this year’s “Silk Road Week” has set up sub-venues in Xi ‘an, Lanzhou, Fuzhou and other places in addition to the main venue in Hangzhou. Hou Ningbin, director of Shaanxi History Museum, Jia Jianwei, director of Gansu Provincial Museum, and Wu Zhiyue, president of Fujian Museum, as representatives of the sub-venue, took the “treasures of the town hall” of each museum and interacted with the home venue in the form of “flying flowers order”, which was full of creativity.
The new hand in hand is the new blooming of the silk road spirit flower. The opening ceremony of this year’s Silk Road Week also released the Annual Report of the Cultural Heritage of the Silk Road in 2020, launched the joint venture of Dunhuang Research Institute and China Silk Museum, and launched the Silk Road Digital Museum.
Under the shining light, the Wenchuang silk scarf “Crossing Together” jointly created by Dunhuang Research Institute and China Silk Museum made a wonderful appearance. “The brocade of the China Silk Museum’s treasure flower and lion pattern is the crystallization of cultural exchanges between the East and the West, and the nine-color deer, the representative image of Dunhuang murals, passes through the treasure wreath, which means the crossing of the National Silk Museum and Dunhuang. The surrounding green mountains and rivers symbolize the evergreen of Dunhuang art, the evergreen of silk heritage and the evergreen of cooperation between the two sides. ” Zhao Feng, curator of China Silk Museum, interprets the profound meaning contained in the pattern for the audience.
It is reported that the Silk Road Digital Museum is the world’s first museum on the Silk Road “Cloud”. It is jointly built by China Silk Museum and more than 40 museums and cultural institutions at home and abroad. It is a shared platform integrating digital collection, digital exhibition, digital knowledge and curation on the cloud. After completion, the cooperative museum can select collections in the “digital collections” resource library, plan, design and present specific themes..Exhibition.
On the same day, the exhibition “All Creatures: Animals and Plants on the Silk Road” was also exhibited at the China Silk Museum. Walking into the exhibition hall, exotic customs came to my face. The exhibition brings together cultural relics and exhibits from 14 cultural and art institutions and enterprises in China, taking the biodiversity and exchange on the Silk Road as the entrance, and presents the theme of “Silk Road changes life”.
“Civilization is colorful because of communication and enriched by mutual learning. As the artery of ancient cultural exchanges between the East and the West, the Silk Road is also of great significance today. ” After the opening ceremony, Zhao Shengliang, president of Dunhuang Research Institute, said in an interview that it is a natural choice for the common prosperity and development of the world today to adhere to openness and exchanges. As an annual heavy event, Silk Road Week will help China to make a better voice in the international community and further promote the development of international cultural exchanges.
The reporter learned that in order to further practice the spirit of “peaceful cooperation, openness and tolerance, mutual learning and mutual benefit” and to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the successful transnational application of “Silk Road: Road Network of Chang ‘an-Tianshan Corridor”, from June 18 to 24, “Silk Road Week” will be linked with relevant institutions at home and abroad, presenting a variety of activities.
According to reports, during the “Silk Road Week”, Hangzhou will hold the Silk Road Museum Curator Forum, the Silk Road Curator Seminar, and the special annual meeting of the Dunhuang Turpan Society in China. At the same time, it will hold a series of supporting exhibitions such as “One Hundred Years of Textile Archaeology”, “Silk Road on Scarves”, “Silk Road Photography Exhibition” and outdoor Silk Road Living Fiber Art Exhibition. In addition to the series of activities at home, related institutions at home and abroad will closely focus on the theme of “pluralistic coexistence and inclusive development”, and successively carry out activities such as relay of cultural relics posters, live broadcast of cave temples, lighting up the Silk Road with heritage, bringing Silk Road culture into the campus, and “winning a plane ticket to China” to present the public with colorful cultural feasts.
