During the summer vacation, in the village of Zhangsi Ancient in Tiantai County, groups of tourists from all over the world flock to see the marine biology museum here. The museum won one of the top ten rural museums worth visiting in the 2022 Zhejiang Cultural Tourism General Ranking.
The Tendai Marine Life Museum is located in an ancient building in Zhangsi Village, originally named Hoixinwu, built in 1831, the main building is sitting north facing south, consisting of a large courtyard and two small courtyards.
Tiantai County organically combines the ancient buildings of the provincial protection with the Maritime Museum, so that the ancient buildings and the mysterious ocean are integrated, so that visitors can not only see the charm of ancient buildings and the superb architectural craftsmanship of the ancients, but also learn about marine life.
In Leifeng Township, Tiantai County, the country’s first village-level celadon museum is located here, displaying various celadon ware excavated from the Huangjiatang kiln site, and also restoring the Yue kiln production process. As a kind of traditional Chinese ceramics, celadon has a unique verdant glaze and exquisite craftsmanship, and has always been loved and sought after by people. By understanding the history of celadon, visitors can feel the breadth and depth of traditional Chinese ceramic culture and understand all aspects of ancient Chinese culture and life. At present, the Celadon Museum has developed more than 1,300 cultural and creative products, generating income of 100,000 yuan.
Up to now, Tiantai has successfully established 6 rural museums, namely Baihe Town Socks Museum, Tiantai Mountain Cloud Tea Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall, Dry Lacquer Jia Ram Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, Marine Biology Museum, Celadon Museum and Tiantaishan Folk Museum. Based on local characteristics, these rural museums make use of local cultural resources and effectively use cultural heritage resources, allowing ancient buildings, ancient crafts and ancient objects to be redisplayed in front of the world, telling the profound history and culture of the ancient rooftop.
