On the morning of March 23rd, the “East Wind Leaving West – Shanghai Historical Museum Collection European Porcelain Exhibition” was successfully held in the temporary exhibition hall of the Lishui Museum.
This exhibition mainly showcases European porcelain from the 17th to 20th centuries, showcasing the popularity of Chinese porcelain in Western society. Especially in the mid-19th century, the porcelain manufacturing industry in the entire European continent, especially in the UK and Germany, developed rapidly, and many towns began to produce porcelain on a large scale. The exhibition showcases how European craftsmen went from simply imitating Chinese porcelain to gradually combining European culture and traditions to produce porcelain with European style. The porcelain industry, which was imitated, combined, innovated, and self integrated, became one of the most important industries in Europe from the 18th to the mid-19th century. While creating millions of job opportunities, it also created huge wealth for Europe at that time, achieving about 200 years of economic development in modern Europe, And formed a brilliant art of porcelain.
This exhibition is organized by the Culture, Radio, Television, News and Publication Bureau of Lishui City, organized by the Lishui Museum, and co organized by the Shanghai History Museum. The aim is to showcase the integration and influence of Chinese and Western porcelain art, which is of great benefit to the people of Lishui in understanding the exchange, integration, innovation, and development of Chinese and Western culture, as well as the cultural industry of Chinese value.
