Since it was approved as a national sustainable development agenda innovation demonstration zone, Huzhou City has actively carried out construction work, worked hard and made good achievements, and composed a “sustainable development movement” on the south bank of Taihu Lake, which has injected inexhaustible green vitality into the city’s economic and social development.
On June 10th, 2023, the kick-off meeting of Zhejiang’s “Top Soldiers” R&D Project “Research and Development of CO2 Capture and Resource Conversion Technology and Equipment” was successfully held in the Yangtze River Delta Research Institute (Huzhou) of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.
The meeting invited Academician He Hong, deputy director of the Ecological Environment Research Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences, researcher Wei Wei, vice president of Shanghai Institute of Advanced Studies of Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor Zeng Jie, vice president of Anhui University of Technology, researcher Wang Guoxiong of Dalian Institute of Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and professor Zhang Dengsong, vice president of Shanghai University, to form a project consulting expert group.
It is understood that this project is jointly developed by Yangtze River Delta Research Institute (Huzhou) of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Nankai University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Zhejiang University, Meixinda Environmental Industry Research Co., Ltd. and Huzhou Nantaihu Electric Power Technology Co., Ltd. The project leader is Professor Dong Fan, head of the carbon neutralization and green catalysis innovation team of Yangtze River Delta Research Institute (Huzhou) of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. This project will focus on efficient capture and high-value conversion of carbon dioxide in flue gas. Develop the integrated equipment of capture-conversion integrated system, gradually promote the transformation and demonstration application of carbon dioxide resource technology, provide strong support for the development of carbon dioxide capture and resource conversion technology, accelerate the green upgrading of industry, and help promote the construction of Huzhou National Sustainable Development Agenda Innovation Demonstration Zone.
Experts attending the meeting fully affirmed the project implementation plan and put forward constructive suggestions on the technical route and assessment method of the project. Experts agree that the research content of this project is feasible, and it is suggested to strengthen exchanges and cooperation among various topics, gradually improve the next work plan, accelerate the rapid transformation and application of research results, complete various tasks of the project with good quality and quantity, and give full play to the important role of scientific and technological strength in carbon dioxide resource management.
The project is an effective carrier for high-quality construction of demonstration areas. Since the approval of the demonstration zone, Huzhou Science and Technology Bureau has solidly promoted the construction of the demonstration zone with the implementation of scientific and technological projects as the starting point, focused on the construction of the three major science and technology highlands in the province, established a list of major needs for sustainable development and a repository of major scientific and technological projects, concise the application guidelines for sustainable development projects, optimized the special support areas for key research and development at the municipal level, and actively strived for major key scientific and technological projects above the provincial level. Since 2022, around the “315” scientific and technological innovation system, 168 major requirements for key core technologies have been collected and sorted out, 72 municipal key scientific research projects have been organized and implemented, 30 “leading soldiers” and “leading geese” projects in Xinli Province and 4 national key R&D projects have reached a record high.
