On the afternoon of January 11, 2022, a delegation led by South African Ambassador to China Xie Shengwen, Ethiopian Ambassador to China Techome Toga, and Djibouti Ambassador to China Abdullah Migil visited the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. Chu Ziyu, Director of the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and Secretary of the Party Group, met with the delegation.
Chu Ziyu first welcomed the visit of the three ambassadors and gave a brief introduction to the development of culture and tourism in Zhejiang Province. He said that Zhejiang has many world cultural heritages and is one of the provinces with the deepest cultural heritage and the most economic strength in History of China. It has rich cultural and tourism resources and developed industries. He stressed that the exchanges and cooperation between Zhejiang and Africa have become increasingly close in recent years. In September 2019, Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee (then Governor of the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province) led a team to Pretoria, South Africa, to hold the “Rainbow Convention” Zhejiang South Africa Cultural Tourism Cooperation and Exchange Conference. The Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism organized the “Close Contact between Poetry and Painting in Zhejiang and Wild Africa – Ten Thousand Tours to Africa” event, making Africa a popular tourist destination for Zhejiang tourists.
