April 26 marks the 21st World Intellectual Property Day. From April 20 to 26, a series of publicity activities on intellectual property protection were organized throughout the country. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as a member of the organizing committee of the National Intellectual Property Publicity Week, held the launch of the Intellectual Property Publicity Week and a special lecture on copyright law for the ministry’s affiliated academies at the Meilanfang Grand Theatre in Beijing on April 20, kicking off the activities of the Intellectual Property Publicity Week of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Cultural and tourism work is closely linked to the protection of intellectual property rights. With the entry into force of the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances and the implementation of the new Copyright Law, the copyright protection work of the Academy of Arts and Crafts is facing many new situations, problems and challenges. At this special lecture on copyright law, Professor Huang Yuye, Deputy Dean of the School of Intellectual Property of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, gave a detailed interpretation of the relevant contents of copyright law related to literary and art academies from the aspects of the types of works protected by copyright, the acquisition and attribution of copyright, the content of copyright rights, related rights, and the path of copyright infringement protection, put forward specific suggestions for academies to deal with legal disputes, and answered relevant questions on the spot. The lecture received a warm response from the subordinate academy group, and many main responsible comrades of the academy group attended the scene to listen. About 170 people, including relevant personnel from the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the National Arts Fund Management Center, and the China Academy of Arts, as well as actors and creative personnel from various troupes under the Ministry participated.
This lecture is also one of the series of measures of the Department of Policies and Regulations of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to carry out Party history study and education “Do practical things for the masses”, aiming to comprehensively enhance the legal awareness of copyright protection of the ministry’s institutes, improve the copyright management system of the academy, and solve the outstanding problems in the current copyright protection of the academy. Since the beginning of this year, the Department of Policies and Regulations of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has put into practice the requirements of “studying party history, understanding ideas, doing practical things, and opening up new situations”, combined with the characteristics of the departments and bureaus, adhered to the problem-oriented, closely focused on the most needed, urgent and complex problems of each directly subordinate unit, organically integrated the study of party history with the work of protecting intellectual property rights and responding to legal disputes in units directly under the ministry, and formulated a “list of practical things” on the basis of listening to the opinions and suggestions of all directly subordinate units in advance, and grasped implementation one after another.
