In order to implement the spirit of the 20th meeting of the Central Committee for Deep Reform, the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau insists on taking seed industry as the “chip” of agriculture, coordinating the scientific and technological strength of the whole city, strengthening basic frontier research, speeding up the implementation of agricultural biological breeding scientific and technological projects, tackling key core technologies of seed sources, and fully ensuring food security.
The first is to further promote the basic research of seed industry. In 2021, focusing on the key directions such as the excavation and utilization of agricultural biological germplasm resources and the research on common key technologies of breeding, we supported the Municipal Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Vocational College and other units to carry out seven municipal public welfare research plans, such as “research on molecular design and breeding of extra-early-maturing and high-quality long-grain late rice”, “germplasm innovation and new variety breeding of japonica rice blast-resistant materials” and “protection and innovative utilization of Jiaxing characteristic aquatic vegetable germplasm resources”, and issued a total of 1.8 million financial subsidies, up by 200% respectively. The scientific and technological achievement “Breeding and Application of Super-high-yield Special Early Indica Rice Variety Zhongjiazao 17” jointly completed by the Municipal Academy of Agricultural Sciences was successfully shortlisted for the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2020.
The second is to accelerate the integration of seed industry research and market. The system of science and technology commissioners has been implemented for 16 consecutive years, and more than 1,000 commissioners have been selected to carry out grassroots exploration, meet the needs of the masses and carry out practical innovation. In 2021, a total of six special projects of science and technology commissioners were arranged, such as “Breeding and popularization of new varieties of Morchella” and “Research on key technologies of rapid propagation of Polygonatum multiflorum seedlings”, to support and guide the science and technology commissioners to carry out breeding, seed selection, introduction and popularization in view of the diversified needs of the market and the development of eco-efficient agriculture.
The third is to continuously promote the carrier construction of breeding scientific research platform. Enlarge and strengthen the municipal key laboratories in the field of scientific research and breeding, and support the Municipal Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Jiaxing Guao Gene Technology and other units to focus on “breeding new varieties of rice and economic bacteria”. The city has created and cultivated 8 agricultural science and technology parks at or above the provincial level, ranking first in the province; There are 17 Xingchuang Tiandi at or above the provincial level, ranking second in the province. Among them, in 2020, the number of provincial agricultural science and technology carriers will be the second in the province.
