On the afternoon of December 1st, the launching ceremony of the 12th “Overseas Students’ Trip to Zhejiang” was held in Ningbo, co-sponsored by Zhejiang Province and Tsinghua University, and co-sponsored by the Organization Department of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Science and Technology Department and the Yangtze River Delta Research Institute in Tsinghua, Zhejiang Province. More than 260 overseas students and representatives from relevant departments in Tsinghua University and Ningbo, as well as venture capital institutions, incubation platforms and industry associations from all over the province attended the meeting.
“Overseas students’ trip to Zhejiang” is a key project and “golden signboard” created by Zhejiang Province. At present, Zhejiang is vigorously implementing the strategy of giving priority to talents, perfecting the policy of supporting talents’ entrepreneurship and innovation, and providing the best service and the best environment for all kinds of talents to start businesses in Zhejiang.
Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, the launching ceremony of “Overseas Students’ Trip to Zhejiang” adopted the mode of “online+offline” for the first time to be carried out simultaneously around the world, with not only the main venue in China but also sub-venues in Sydney and Tokyo.
At the launching ceremony, overseas students from the United States, Britain, Germany, Australia, Canada, Japan and other places brought a number of projects and business plans to participate in the docking. These projects cover a new generation of strategic emerging industries such as life and health, intelligent manufacturing, new energy and new materials, and digital economy, and fully communicate with representatives of well-known enterprises, investment institutions and incubation platforms in the province to find the environment and policies that match the industries.
This year’s “Overseas Students’ Journey to Zhejiang” lasted for five days, and held innovation and entrepreneurship competitions and project docking, and visited Ningbo, Jiaxing, Shaoxing, Taizhou and Lishui respectively to learn more about Zhejiang’s innovation and entrepreneurship environment, and organically combined with a series of local talent plans and project reviews to actively promote the project to take root as soon as possible.
The “Overseas Students’ Trip to Zhejiang” has been held for eleven consecutive years, and more than 1,300 overseas high-level project teams have been invited to visit and dock in Zhejiang, and more than 800 overseas students have settled in Zhejiang, and settled in total investment of the project for nearly 20 billion yuan.
