On June 16, 2017, Qi Rang, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Group, Vice Chairman, and Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology, led a team of 9 evaluation experts jointly composed of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission to evaluate the construction of innovative pilot cities in Hangzhou, Ningbo, Huzhou, and Jiaxing.
Innovation determines the future of a city, and innovation leads the future of a city. Building an innovative city is the inherent need to cultivate new driving forces, develop new economy and lead the New Normal of economic development; It is an important measure to solve a series of problems related to urban economic and social development, and to improve the connotation and concept of urban innovative development. Since 2010, the Ministry of Science and Technology has distributed 61 innovative pilot cities in 30 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions across the country. Hangzhou, Ningbo, Jiaxing and other cities were among the first batch of national innovative pilot cities approved in 2010.
At the evaluation meeting, Vice Mayor Chen Xinhua of Hangzhou City, Mayor Qiu Dongyao of Ningbo City, Vice Mayor Li Shangkui of Huzhou City, and Vice Mayor Sheng Quansheng of Jiaxing City respectively reported on the completion of the indicators for building innovative cities, the implementation of key tasks, and the experience and practices gained. They also answered questions and answers from the expert group on site. The evaluation expert group gave full recognition to the work carried out by the four innovative pilot cities in Zhejiang Province, and put forward opinions and suggestions on further improving the construction and development of innovative cities.
The Zhejiang Provincial Government has always attached great importance to the construction of innovative cities, and the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, together with the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, has made serious preparations for this evaluation work.
Prior to the meeting, Director Zhou Guohui of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology entrusted Deputy Director Wang Jian to briefly report to the expert group leader Qi Rang on the progress of scientific and technological innovation work in Zhejiang Province in recent years.
The evaluation expert group also conducted on-site inspections on the urban planning of Hangzhou and Qianjiang New City.
