In recent years, Beijing has adhered to the principle of “protection first” and made efforts to protect and inherit cultural heritage in the process of reform and development. At the event, a research report on the protection of Beijing’s central axis cultural heritage-“Beijing Central Axis: Cultural Heritage and Urban Cultural Sustainability” was released. Taking Beijing Central Axis as the core case, the report showed the embodiment of heritage protection in social governance, environmental protection and industrial promotion, and discussed how to better empower Beijing’s urban development by optimizing the central axis heritage protection.
The report shows that in recent years, the comprehensive protection system of Beijing’s central axis has been gradually improved and written into Beijing’s overall urban planning. Guided by the central axis cultural heritage protection, Beijing promotes the overall protection and revival of the old city. The report pointed out that with the popularity of public opinion on the central axis in Beijing, Beijing residents’ attention to the central axis has increased significantly. According to the survey data, more than 82% of the respondents “know” the protection of Beijing’s central axis cultural heritage, 74..91% of the respondents expressed “strong support” for the protection of Beijing’s central axis cultural heritage.
Among the respondents who expressed “great support” for the protection of Beijing’s central axis cultural heritage, young people aged 28-35 accounted for the most, reaching 45..45%; Followed by the 18-27 age group, accounting for 25..03%; 36-44 years old accounted for 21.92%。 The supporters of the cultural heritage of the central axis highlight their “youth”, which is conducive to the social and intergenerational inheritance of cultural heritage.
