From January 9th to 13th, the Zhejiang Provincial Foreign Affairs Office dispatched a working group to maintain and debug four household biogas engineering demonstration projects assisted by our province in the states of Bonape and Chuk in the Federated States of Micronesia. In 2009, at the request of President Murray of Mick, Zhejiang Province selected construction personnel to assist in the construction of four household biogas demonstration projects in the friendly provinces of Bonape and Mick Chuk. Biogas energy turns waste into treasure, converting organic waste commonly used in rural areas such as livestock manure into clean energy, particularly in line with the demand for low-cost clean energy in South Pacific island countries such as Mick. In our province’s sister city of Ponape, the working group made a special trip to the state government to visit Governor Isaac and Deputy Governor Peterson. During the meeting, Governor Isa praised the tangible benefits that the biogas project assisted by Zhejiang Province has brought to local residents and expressed his hope to further strengthen friendly exchanges with Zhejiang Province during his new term. The officials of our embassy in Mick who received our provincial work group also stated that over the past two years, the local people have gone from being ignorant of biogas energy to inquiring about how to install biogas facilities at our embassy in Mick. The demonstration projects assisted by our province have played a good radiating role and enhanced China’s influence. The Zhejiang Provincial Working Group, with the assistance of the local government and my embassy in Mick, visited all four biogas sites in Mick Chuk and Bonape states respectively, updated key equipment accessories, and ensured the normal operation of the facilities. After a follow-up visit, several users equipped with biogas all gave high praise to the project, praising it as very eco-friendly and solving a large proportion of household daily energy problems.
