On the morning of October 22nd, a symposium of the Parana Foundation in Brazil was held at the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology. Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Gao Yingzhong, met with Hamilo Valavcheko, Chairman of the Parana Nanyang Cedar Foundation in Brazil, and a delegation. The two sides exchanged views on matters related to provincial and state science and technology cooperation.
Gao Yingzhong warmly welcomed Hamilo Varavcheko and his delegation, and introduced the situation of scientific and technological cooperation and exchange in Zhejiang Province. He stated that the cooperation between Zhejiang Province and Parana Prefecture has a long history. Since the establishment of a friendly province in 1986, the two sides have had multiple high-level visits, and have had very successful cooperation in various fields such as economy and society. In the field of technology, both sides have also established a good foundation for cooperation. The Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Federal University of Parana have close cooperation in biotechnology research, and the Zhejiang Institute of Freshwater Fisheries also has close academic exchanges and cooperation with colleagues in Parana in freshwater fish domestication and reproduction technology.
Gao Yingzhong hopes that through this delegation’s visit, an institutionalized cooperation mechanism will be established to further expand cooperation with Zhejiang in the three major fields of biotechnology and life sciences, digital economy, and artificial intelligence, including personnel exchange and visits, scientific research institution cooperation and communication, as well as cooperation and exchange with relevant enterprises.
Hamilo Valavcheko, Chairman of the Parana Nanyangshan Foundation, stated that Parana is the second largest innovative state in Brazil, ranking second in science and technology investment in the country, after S ã o Paulo. He said that Zhejiang Province and Parana Prefecture have more than 30 years of cooperation and friendship, and the purpose of this visit is to strengthen cooperation between the two sides in fields such as artificial intelligence and promote joint research by researchers from both sides.
At the meeting, the Office of the Provincial Natural Science Foundation Committee and the Cooperation Office of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology respectively introduced the management of basic public welfare research plans and international scientific and technological cooperation in our province, and held discussions on the next steps to deepen provincial and state scientific and technological cooperation, and establish bilateral joint projects. The Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province and the Nanyangshan Foundation of Parana have also signed a cooperation agreement, which will carry out cooperation in relevant key areas such as research, teaching, technology development, production, technological scientific information, and industrial innovation.
Alexis Gonzali Sveira, Director of Strategic Planning at the City Government of Lundrina, and Julio Vinisis Gaha Naren, Director of the Chairman’s Office of the Parana Nanyang Cedar Foundation, accompanied the visit and exchange.
It is reported that the Parana Nanyangshan Foundation was established in 2000 to support scientific research and talent development, and promote local scientific, technological, and socio-economic development.
