At 8:08 on September 21st, the opening ceremony of the torch collection and relay for the 17th Zhejiang Provincial Games was held at the Jinhua Pujiang Uphill Archaeological Site Park. This sacred flame, carried by over 360 torchbearers from all over Jinhua, will bloom on the torch tower in the main venue on the evening of the opening ceremony of the Provincial Games.
The Zhejiang Provincial Games, founded in 1951, is the largest, most attended, and most comprehensive sports event in Zhejiang. The participants in this Provincial Games are all young athletes under the age of 18, a collision of youthful strength.
The collection site of the sacred flame for this Provincial Games, the Shangshan Archaeological Site Park, comes with the label of “World Rice Source for Ten Thousand Years of Shangshan”. A grain of rice from ten thousand years ago nurtures hope and has profound significance for human civilization.
What kind of fusion and collision will occur when ancient civilizations encounter vitality and youth? I believe many people want to come and listen.

Let’s start with the collection of the sacred flame at the Provincial Games.
The collection of sacred flames has always been one of the highlights of the provincial games. Every selection of collection sites can be described as repeated comparisons and thousands of choices.
It is reported that in the initial provincial games, there was no sacred flame collection ceremony. The earliest relevant reports available were at the 12th Provincial Games in 2002. The venue is Wenzhou, where the sacred flame was collected. It was selected under the popular Yandang Mountain Baigang Jianshuguang Rock, which was once listed by experts as one of the first places for the arrival of dawn in the mainland of China in the new century.
In 2006, the torch collection ceremony of the 13th Provincial Games was also unique. The sources of fire collection are from four directions in Zhejiang: east, west, south, and north: the “Civilization Fire” collected from Yuyao Hemudu, the “Qianjiang Fire” collected from Kaihua County, the source of the Qianjiang River in Zhejiang, the “Hope Fire” collected from Taizhou, and the “Revolution Fire” collected from Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing. The collection and confluence of sparks from all directions have condensed into the “Harmony Fire” of the provincial sports torch.
In 2010, on the 89th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the sacred flame collection site of the 14th Provincial Games followed the red footsteps and settled by the South Lake in Jiaxing, the birthplace of the Communist Party of China.
From the perspective of the long river of history, the four-year provincial games have gone through 71 years, and each site selection for the collection of sacred flames has special significance.
