How many treasures are hidden in Zhejiang? From the statistical point of view, it is not intuitive, this time go back to the Zhejiang Provincial Museum can come to a big bottom. Tomorrow morning, Zhejiangbo’s annual exhibition “Treasures of Yuedi – 100 Cultural Relics Tell the Story of Zhejiang” will meet the audience at the West Lake Art Museum in Zhejiang on the eve of the Chinese Cultural and Natural Heritage Day.
This exhibition brings together 100 pieces (groups) of cultural relics from 36 cultural institutions in the province, along the historical context from prehistory to the Ming and Qing dynasties, presenting the audience with the wonderful historical imprints and unique regional culture on the land of Zhejiang. Each cultural relic (group) on display corresponds to a piece of Zhejiang’s history and culture. If the entire history of Zhejiang is compared to a wonderful and complete performance, then the historical story corresponding to these cultural relics is one of the wonderful “folding plays”.
The exhibition will be divided into six chapters. “Out of Obscurantism” reflects the changes and trends of prehistoric social development in Zhejiang from the two blocks of material and spiritual; “Diligent cultivation and battle” shows the spirit of pragmatic struggle and self-improvement of the ancient Yue people in the turbulent Spring and Autumn Era; “Ceramic Road” reviews the history of Zhejiang ceramics development and the Maritime Silk Road to the world; “Sanskrit Sound” focuses on the development and prosperity of Buddhism in Zhejiang; “Old Stories of Wulin” presents the elegant life of the royal family in the Southern Song Dynasty and the exquisite life taste of the Jiangnan people. “Towards Introspection” tells the story of the elite literati of the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties who reflected on themselves and depicted the stories of the times in their own unique ways.
Among the exhibits are well-known “star” national treasures, such as Liangzhu Yuqiang King, who appeared in the “National Treasure” program; the first batch of cultural relics prohibited from leaving the country, the Yue kiln celadon smoking furnace unearthed from the Lin’an Shuiqiu clan’s tomb; Yuan Dynasty calligrapher Zhao Mengfu described his hometown’s Xingshu “Wu Xingfu”; As well as the treasures of some museums in the province, such as Jiaxing Museum, Songze Cultural Head Pottery Vase, Wenzhou Museum, Treasure of the Town Hall, Northern Song Ou Kiln Brown Colored Plant Pattern, etc.
There are also “mysterious” cultural relics that rarely appear, such as the Northern Song Dynasty gold relic bottle unearthed from Ruian Huiguang Pagoda; the Longquan kiln gourd bottle unearthed from the Qingtian Yuan Dynasty porcelain cellar, which was once printed as a stamp; The Ming Dynasty Zheng He’s golden book “Myoho-renge-kyo” found in the Pinghu newspaper Bentatasha, etc.
There are also some cultural relics, although not as famous as these treasures, but of great significance, such as the Liangzhu ivory jade comb unearthed from Haiyan is the only Liangzhu ivory comb found so far; The stone relic letter unearthed in Tonglu is the first discovery of the relic stone letter of the Southern Dynasty, which fills the gap unearthed in the Buddhist relic container of the Southern Dynasty and is an important material for studying the relic system of the Southern Dynasty. In addition, the exhibition will also invite the audience to “taste”, and the cultural relics unearthed from the tomb of Zhao Bowang of the Southern Song Dynasty discovered in Huangyan, Taizhou in 2016, will also meet the audience in the exhibition.
It is reported that the collection and display of fine cultural relics is a highlight of this exhibition, such as the fine bronzes unearthed from Tomb No. 306 of Shaoxing in the Spring and Autumn Period, which are collected in the Zhejiang Provincial Museum and Shaoxing Museum respectively, and the fine gold and silver artifacts of the Southern Song Dynasty unearthed in Huzhou, Jinhua, Dongyang, Lin’an, Longyou and other places will be unveiled in groups. In addition, in order to meet the needs of the audience, this time Zhebo has specially developed a series of cultural and creative products around cultural relics such as the Jade King, the Bronze House of Tricks, and the Mandarin Duck Pattern Gold Pendant, and also cooperated with China Post to launch commemorative cultural relics stamps, envelopes, etc., so that the audience can bring the museum culture home.
