In order to further implement the spirit of documents such as the “Opinions on Further Strengthening the Treatment of Plastic Pollution”, the “Notice on Solidly Promoting the Treatment of Plastic Pollution”, and the “Notice on Carrying out the Joint Special Action for Supervision and Inspection of Plastic Pollution Control in Zhejiang Province”, and strengthen the main responsibility of enterprise environmental protection. Recently, the Xiaoshan District Bureau of Commerce held a meeting on plastic pollution control, with more than 40 people from various shopping malls, supermarkets, and markets in the city participating.
The meeting conveyed the content of the “Special Action Plan for the Supervision and Inspection of Plastic Pollution Control in Xiaoshan District”: it is required that shopping malls, supermarkets, and markets prohibit the use of ultra-thin plastic shopping bags with a thickness of less than 0.025mm; Prohibit retail sales of disposable plastic cotton swabs; Prohibit the use of non degradable plastic bags (market regulations and restrictions on the use of non degradable plastic bags, by the end of 2023, the use of non degradable plastic bags is prohibited); Prohibit the use of non degradable disposable plastic straws, etc. And reported the problems found during the previous inspection.
Representatives of RT Mart, Century Lianhua, Yonghui Supermarket, CR Vanguard, Huidelong and other supermarkets made exchange speeches and said they would do a good job in plastic pollution control as required.
The meeting put forward requirements for the next step of work: firstly, the position should be high. From the perspective of national ecological civilization construction, fully understand the significance of plastic pollution control, effectively improve ideological awareness, and fully implement. The second is to act quickly. The time node is relatively urgent, calling on all staff to take action and carry out publicity and guidance work throughout. Identify deficiencies, list problems, develop corrective measures, and combine daily inspections with special inspections to form a long-term management system. Third, accountability should be strict. Actively implement the main responsibilities, and suggest that all supermarket and market management entities integrate plastic pollution control into daily assessment, combining rewards and punishment.
