In mid-December 2021, Yunhe County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province carried out a large-scale survey in many counties. After more than 30 days of archaeological exploration, a total of 28 cultural sites from the Neolithic age to the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties were found, with a total area of more than 400,000 square meters, filling the cultural archaeological gap of Shang and Zhou dynasties in southern Zhejiang.
The nine-member archaeological team has been working in the field, moving to many places in Yunhe County. They carefully observed the unearthed pottery pieces and stone pieces, analyzed the historical period of cultural relics, and determined whether the site has a rich cultural layer. The 28 sites found in this exploration are distributed on qinglongshan, Stone Bridge and Huangshan hills in Yunhe County, with an average altitude of about 100 to 300 meters, which are characterized by high density and thick cultural accumulation. According to the collected pottery pieces and stone tools, it is preliminarily determined to be relics from the Neolithic Age to the Shang and Zhou dynasties, 3,000 to 4,000 years ago.
According to archaeological experts, the previous archaeological discoveries in the Shang and Zhou dynasties in Zhejiang province were mainly concentrated on the Maqiao culture in northern Zhejiang and the shoulder lane culture in southern Zhejiang, among which the shoulder lane culture was only found in ash pits, tombs and other relics in a few sites, and the cultural lineage is not clear. The appearance of the unearthed cultural relics of the Yunhe site group is close to the shoulder lane culture, and the relevant discoveries will fill the archaeological gap from the Neolithic period from southern Zhejiang to the Shang and Zhou dynasties.
In recent years, the cultural preservation staff of Yunhe County went deep into the major hills of the county for field investigation, and obtained nearly a thousand cultural specimens such as stone tools, pottery and stone arrowheads, most of which belong to the Neolithic Age to the Shang and Zhou dynasties. Relying on the previous rich cultural specimens, this archaeological exploration is intended to explore the clouds and the profound history and culture.(Reporter Wu Wenxuan)
