On the occasion of the ninth National Memorial Day, the renovation project of the Japanese Japanese Unit 731st (“Unit 731”) was completed, and more than 20,000 pieces (pages) of new cultural relics, new archives and new historical materials were exhibited for the first time. Experts said the newly displayed evidence added new evidence to the crimes committed by Force 731’s human experiments, the development of bacterial weapons and germ warfare, making the chain of evidence complete.
According to the report, the project started on September 19, the museum display to “atrocities against humanity” as the theme. Jin Chengmin, director of the Exhibition hall of the 731 Unit of the Japanese invaders, said that the new evidence of criminal evidence was mainly obtained through archaeological excavation, “transnational evidence collection” and academic research since 2015, including 2,862 pieces of criminal evidence, 23,000 pages of criminal evidence and 810 minutes of images of former members of unit 731 were added.
“These new evidence relics and historical materials are iron evidence, making the evidence chain of bacterial development and human experiments in Unit 731 more complete.”Jin Chengmin said.
In the exhibition hall, the newly displayed Famous Book of the Epidemic Prevention and Water Department of the Kwantung Army (the Epidemic prevention and Water Department of the Kwantung Army) detailed the information of the members of Unit 731, which provides first-hand historical support for in-depth research on the overall size, source and identity of Unit 731. According to the name book, unit 731 has a total of 3,497 members.”The previous academic achievements were mostly involved in wartime crimes such as biological warfare and human body experiments, war responsibilities and post-war damage, and there was little research on major basic historical facts such as the list of members of Unit 731. The archives reveal the complete veil of this demon force.”Jin Chengmin said.
In August 1945, when unit 731 retreated, it blew up the core area of bacterial experiments and human experiments, in an attempt to destroy the evidence. Through archaeological excavations, more than 2,000 war relics were exhibited on a large-scale exhibition for the first time since the renovation. Li Chenqi, president of the Heilongjiang Society of Cultural Relics Museums, said, ” These new relics are direct evidence of criminal destruction by the Japanese invaders.”
After more than 30 years of hard search for evidence and unremitting research, the Exhibition hall of the Japanese Invading Army has nearly 100,000 criminal relics and historical materials in seven categories, forming a three-dimensional chain of mutual verification, true and complete criminal evidence.”By displaying criminal evidence and exposing crimes, to further expand and enhance the international influence of the museum, and to warn the world to remember history and safeguard peace.”Jin Chengmin said.
Unit 731 was a secret unit of the Japanese invaders in the name of research and prevention of diseases and purification of drinking water, but actually used Chinese, Korean and Soviet people to conduct living experiments, as well as the development and production of bacterial weapons. The base is built in Pingfang District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, which is the largest research, experimental and manufacturing base for bacterial weapons in the world’s history. At least 3,000 people are used here for human experiments.(Reporter Wang Jian, Yang Siqi)
