Li Qun, vice minister of culture and tourism and director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, and Mohammad Hassan, deputy minister of cultural heritage, tourism and handicrafts, jointly signed the joint statement on the “Asian Cultural heritage protection action” (hereinafter referred to as the joint Statement).
Li Qun delivered a speech at the signing ceremony. He said that the China-Iran Joint Statement is the first bilateral document signed by the cultural heritage authorities of the two countries in the past decade, marking that the bilateral cultural heritage cooperation has entered a new stage of development and is of a milestone.
He pointed out that China is ready to work with Iran and other Asian countries to push the protection of Asian cultural heritage on the “fast track” and inject strong people-to-people impetus into building an Asian community with a shared future, promoting people-to-people ties between Belt and Road countries and enhancing exchanges and mutual learning among human civilizations.
Talebian spoke highly of the “Asian Cultural Heritage Protection Action” and expressed his willingness to work with China to promote the development of Asian cultural heritage protection.
According to the Joint Statement, China and Iran will carry out practical cooperation in the areas of joint archaeology, the protection and restoration of cultural heritage, world cultural heritage, museum exhibitions and exchanges, and the prevention of illegal trafficking of cultural relics and personnel training.
