With the help of the project “Archaeological China-Study on the Civilization Process of Hongshan Society”, the archaeological department of China is re-sorting out the position and role of Hongshan culture, which is famous at home and abroad, in the formation and development of Chinese civilization.
On the 17th, the reporter got news from the Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which showed that at present, the scientific research work of “Archaeological China-Hongshan Social Civilization Process Research” in Inner Mongolia has been fully launched.
From now on, the archaeological department began to carry out regional archaeological investigations on the upper reaches of Liuhe River, the upper reaches of Laoha River and Jiaolai River basin, as well as archaeological excavations on the Caitaopo site in Songshan District of Chifeng, aiming at further clarifying the space-time framework, settlement form, functional differentiation of Hongshan culture and its role and significance in the complicated process of Hongshan culture society.
According to public information, Hongshan culture, which originated in the southwest of northeast China, is one of the earliest remains of Chinese civilization, and the sites are mainly distributed in the upper reaches of Daling River and Xiliao River north of Yanshan Mountain.
The project “Archaeological China-Study on the Civilization Process of Hongshan Society” was approved by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage at the end of 2021, led by the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and jointly implemented by Inner Mongolia Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology.
The project “Archaeological China-Study on the Civilization Process of Hongshan Society” is a related project in the “Archaeological China” project.
The “Archaeological China” project is another major research project put forward by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, following the “Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties Dating Project” and “Chinese Civilization Tracing Project”.
According to the Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the greatest significance of the project “Archaeological China-Study on the Civilization Process of Hongshan Society” lies in: through archaeological excavation, the contribution and significance of Hongshan culture to the formation and development of Chinese civilization can be further confirmed, the “Hongshan element” in pluralistic Chinese civilization can be understood, and the theoretical system of the origin of Chinese civilization can be enriched and improved.
