On November 5th, the 9th National Finals of China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition opened in Hangzhou. This event, jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, the National Network Information Office and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, is known as the “Double Innovation” event with the highest specification, the largest scale, the best quality and the widest influence in China.
It is worth mentioning that this enterprise’s “Science and Technology Challenge” has a particularly strong “growth” color this year: according to the statistics of the organizing committee, the high-tech enterprises in this competition accounted for 31.18%, and the small and medium-sized technology enterprises accounted for 45.18%. The total intellectual property rights of all participating enterprises amounted to more than 229,000 items. There are more than 385,000 R&D personnel, accounting for 36.19% of the total number of employees in all participating enterprises. Five small and medium-sized scientific and technological enterprises in Zhejiang were finalists.
Tackling key problems in science and technology and making a breakthrough in transformation are not optional but compulsory. Entrepreneurs have a deep understanding of this. Especially this year, the epidemic situation has intensified the trend of anti-globalization. When reporters interview some business managers, they often feel the sense of hardship. Some bosses lamented that “things in the supply chain, like seafood, cost one price a day”. Some bosses concluded, “If you can’t reach the top two in the world, you won’t be eligible to eat’ meat'”. Judging from the fiery degree of this innovation and entrepreneurship competition, these very realistic sighs are being transformed into practical actions from bitter experience. For example, this year’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition set up a professional competition for epidemic prevention and control technology, because during the epidemic, many enterprises took out their “housekeeping skills” to ensure the needs of epidemic prevention and control materials, government services, medical care and people’s livelihood, etc., made great achievements in winning the epidemic prevention and control war, and established their own industrial advantages. The famous Pasteur Quadrant in the field of management technology shows that the basic research initiated by enterprises through application plays a very important role.
How to break through? First of all, have the determination to put all your eggs in one basket. As the saying goes, “Throw the backpack over the wall”, both entrepreneurial and growth-oriented enterprises should abandon the wait-and-see mentality, learn from each other’s strong points in time, actively promote innovation, forge the technological “killer” and find their own irreplaceability. Secondly, improve the scientific and technological content of the whole industry chain. Innovation is not a matter for a single enterprise. Every enterprise in the industrial chain has its own scientific and technological innovation task, and only by showing its magical powers can it be fully “chained” and share dividends.
