The exhibition consists of five parts, namely, the snake dance, the immortal turtle, the water and land monster, the four legged dragon and the water and land overlord. A total of 113 representative amphibian and reptile specimens in China are displayed, including 35 kinds of snakes, including the Bungarus multicinctus, Agkistrodon acutus, the white headed viper, the flower forest snake, and the Mangshan Houling snake; Tortoise, leatherback turtle, Malaysian giant turtle and other 10 kinds of turtles; 46 kinds of amphibians, such as Yao salamander, brown black verrucolotl, South China rain frog, Zhaojue forest frog, etc; There are also reptiles such as Jintaijia, Blue Tree Giant lizard, Chinese alligator, Siamese crocodile, etc. The exhibition is rich in both pictures and texts. It combines plates, specimens, scenes, videos, etc. organically, and exhibits in various forms. The exhibition also shows the yellow headed turtle, Chinese flower turtle, Chinese turtle, crocodile turtle, etc. This is the first time that the Xinchang Museum has exhibited living animals since its opening.
Since its opening, Xinchang Museum has introduced popular science exhibitions with different themes every summer vacation. “Singing Insects Special Exhibition”, “Dragon Travel Zhejiang – Exhibition of Dinosaur Fossils Unearthed in Zhejiang”, and “Marine Treasure – Special Exhibition of Coral” have all been popular among young people. As an extension of classroom education, museums have become a good place for young people to increase their knowledge, broaden their horizons and enrich their holiday cultural life.
