On September 30th, the civilized practice of “Splendid Fucheng” in the new era and the first fine exhibition of folk literature and art in Linhai City were held in Linhai Museum. This is a concentrated exhibition of the achievements made by Linhai in excavating, inheriting and carrying forward folk literature and art in recent years.
There are 14 exhibitions in this exhibition, including the folk arts that are widely known to the public, such as paper-cutting in Linhai, clay sculpture in Linhai, root carving in Linhai, Taizhou Shili Red Makeup, and the lacquer art of soaking in Zhu, as well as the relatively small and skilled folk crafts, such as Linhai rhinoceros skin lacquer art, Qingtong furnace shadow, and Taizhou gold lacquer painting, many of which have won awards at home and abroad. It is worth mentioning that Taizhou, as the birthplace of Shili red makeup culture, has many stories and objects. The story of “Huang Million Borrowing an Umbrella” in Taozhu, Linhai is the earliest story about Shili Red Makeup, while the folklore of Zhao Gou, King of Kang in the Southern Song Dynasty, took refuge in Zhang ‘an and got a peasant woman’s broken rice mixed with chicken soup to satisfy her hunger is the most widely spread story about Shili Red Makeup. Over the past ten years, local collectors have consciously collected a large number of Shili red makeup objects, trying to protect Shili red makeup culture.
Coastal culture is profound. Judging from the pottery unearthed in Du Qiao, Baishuiyang and other places, in the Three Kingdoms period, the people in the coastal areas had mastered the superb craft level and had high aesthetic taste. By the Song Dynasty, Taizhou folk artisans had complete trades and superb skills, and were described by Tang Zhongyou of Zhizhou as “artisans are skilled and magnificent”, “ornamental wood and painted, gorgeous and colorful”. After entering the 21st century, a number of powerful folk writers and craftsmen have emerged in Linhai, and a large number of works with Linhai characteristics have participated in national exhibitions and won many awards. This exhibition will end on October 30th.
