On September 3rd, the special exhibition of “Red Flag Rolling over Qianjiang River-Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of Zhejiang Province” opened in Wulin Hall of Zhejiang Provincial Museum. The exhibition is sponsored by Zhejiang Cultural Relics Bureau, hosted by Zhejiang Museum and Zhejiang Revolutionary History Memorial Hall, and co-organized by the Historical Materials Exhibition Hall of the May 4th Constitution. The content of the exhibition is divided into four parts: preface, liberation, construction and commemoration. More than 230 pieces of revolutionary cultural relics and materials are displayed in total. Combined with relevant historical pictures, Zhejiang people can vividly reproduce that epic history, commemorate and cherish the memory of revolutionary martyrs, and present a gift to the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China by showing how Zhejiang people won liberation and built a new Zhejiang under the leadership of the Party.
On April 21, 1949, a million heroes crossed the Yangtze River, liberated Nanjing, and then went south into Zhejiang. The local armed forces in Zhejiang bravely attacked and cooperated to meet the liberation army to fight in Zhejiang. On May 3rd, Hangzhou was liberated, and the history of Zhejiang entered a new era. After the liberation of Zhejiang, under the leadership of the Party, the people of the whole province established people’s governments at all levels, established the basic socialist system, and made brilliant achievements in politics, economy, culture, education, etc., which also laid the foundation for Zhejiang’s later economic and social development.
In the exhibition, the audience can trace the historical footprint of Zhejiang liberation through the commemorative medallion of crossing the river victory, No.2: Hangzhou Liberation, and the seal of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government. Looking back on the new weather in Zhejiang after the founding of People’s Republic of China (PRC) by turning over as the representative certificate, the 1954 Constitution of People’s Republic of China (PRC) (the historical materials of the May 4th Constitution are displayed in the collection) and other cultural relics; Feel the glorious revolutionary tradition and patriotic dedication of the revolutionary martyrs through the relics of Yu Zi San Martyrs, the flag of the first delegation of the old base area of Zhejiang Province and other cultural relics.
