Recently, Zhejiang’s high temperature warning has also been online, continuous sunny and hot weather and the sudden situation of local sudden heavy rain in the afternoon, which has added great difficulty to the work of ship supervision of Ningbo Customs.
On July 27, Beilun Customs under Ningbo Customs received ship information from Beilun Port Area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, and on the afternoon of July 28, two ships will arrive at the anchorage of Beilun Port Area, and a total of 32 Chinese crew members on both ships need to be changed. According to relevant regulations, the crew members must take a nasopharyngeal swab of the new coronavirus and pass the new coronavirus test in the laboratory before they can change shifts. The berthing times of the two ships were set for 10 p.m. on the 28th and early morning on the 29th. In order to allow the crew to disembark as soon as possible after berthing, Beilun Customs decided to complete the quarantine identification of the two ships and the sampling of the crew change at the anchorage early.
At 1 p.m. on July 28, it was clear and cloudless, and Guan officers Qi Lisong and Cen Kaishi braved the scorching sun to get on a traffic boat and go to the anchorage. At 2 p.m., they climbed the soft ladder of the first ship, the railings of which were very hot and the deck was hot. In accordance with the work regulations, the two customs officers put on protective clothing, double-layer surgical gloves, protective face screens, shoe covers, N95 masks, and isolation gowns, and conducted nasopharyngeal swab sampling on the deck for all crew members.
“Raise your head a little more, relax, breathe normally, don’t be nervous, don’t move, hold on.” Some crew members are very unaccustomed to the sampling process, the swab is not easy to poke the posterior wall of the nasopharynx, and there is a strong discomfort reaction during collection, which increases the difficulty of sampling. Qi Lisong and Cen Kaishi both have medical backgrounds, and with their long-term work experience and professional skills, they can probe the position as gently and quickly as possible to reduce the discomfort of the crew.
The heat on the deck baked up the soles of the feet, the sea breeze mixed with the heat wave blew in the face, the uniforms in the protective suits were quickly soaked with sweat, and the sweat on the forehead dripped on the glasses and protective visors, blurring the vision. Two hours passed, the customs officer completed the ship’s quarantine and various tests and audits of the crew, and the sun began to be covered by dark clouds. They take off their masks, protective clothing, and habitually pour sweat out of their gloves when they take off their gloves. After breathing in the slightly salty sea breeze for a while, my body recovered a little, and I climbed off the ship non-stop to another anchorage, hoping to rush to the second ship to start the operation before it rained.
At 16:30, the customs boat approached the second ship. The sky was cloudy in an instant, and when the two customs officers had just climbed up the soft ladder, the downpour began to fall, and they continued to climb the ladder despite the blurred vision, and when they climbed to the deck, the uniforms that had just been “baked” were all soaked. They overcame physical discomfort, put on protective gear and completed the quarantine of the second ship. Although the sudden heavy rain lowered the temperature, the wet uniform was attached to the body, covered with airtight protective clothing, and the rain and sweat soaked the body, “That sour, I really can’t forget!” After taking off the protective clothing, Cen Kaishi quipped while twisting the water in his uniform. After completing the sanitary quarantine task for the two ships, it was getting late, and it was past the end of duty early.
After the two customs officers went ashore, the car waiting to deliver the samples at the dock immediately sent the 32 samples just collected to the laboratory dozens of kilometers away. At 1 a.m. the next day, the laboratory results came out, and all 32 samples were negative. Qi Lisong informed the relevant personnel of the result as soon as possible to ensure that the crew could disembark in time and return home as soon as possible.
Under the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, the customs officers overcame the high temperature and the stuffy heat of protective clothing to board the round of quarantine, and held the sea defense line under the “roasting” test of high temperature, interpreting the true meaning of loyalty, dedication and responsibility with hard work and sweat.
